NO DEMOCRAT LEFT BEHIND

Sue:

1. Did the Democrats obstruct Reagan's policies in Central America? Answer: Yes.

2. Did the Democrats oppose every single weapons system that modernized our military in the 1980's? Answer: Yes.

3. Have the Democrats obstructed, whined, complained, and called for retreat from Iraq? Answer: Yes.

4. Do you want me to go on? Just where is this "truth" coming from "the same side of the fence?"

These are facts. They are stubborn things. If you can show me that Democrats have supported or suggested supporting American military action in defense of its own interests - not "NATO's" interests as we did with Bosnia and Kosovo who had absolutely no strategic value to the US - then I will retract some of those statements.

The fact is, you cannot because the Democratic party - with very few exceptions - has become the party of simpering internationalism. And when most of the world would like nothing better than to see the US brought down a peg or two in the international order, internationalism won't work.

DEMOCRATS NARFLE THE GARTHOK

RP:

That's a pretty deadly combination: arrogance and stupidity.

The one only tends to reveal the other.

I don't have the time nor inclination to try and respond to a comment with so much jaw dropping idiocy but I might point out that telling people to "wake up" and to "think" usually indicates a mind so in love with its own stupidities as to be beyond saving.

BUSH: TROUBLE IN THE HEARTLAND?

Agreed on all points. Basically I was trying to outline what I see as the state of my region at this moment in time and I think that analysis holds; the Republicans are in trouble with their own voters. No secret there but it's an issue they have to address or they will be in trouble on election day.

WATERGATE REDUX

I thought about that. But the tape was months old. We're keeping track of people who die during the day of the show.

CARNIVAL OF THE CLUELESS #31: THE "WHAT WOULD JACK BAUER DO?" EDITION

Diamond/Jack:

You should have changed your email address. It's the only thing that gave you away.

A DEAD WRONG HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE OF 9/11

So I guess MAD was "nonsensical." What does the "average man in the street" have to do with formulating security policy?

The Russians spoke the language of deterrence. Al Qaeda does not.

Hawk:

You are correct. Lincoln's problem was Chief Justice Taney who ruled the suspension of the writ unconstitutional. Lincoln ignored him.

m:

As I point out, the threat comparison is a trick question. The Russians would never have destroyed themselves just so they could destroy us.

You willing to say the same thing about the jihadists?

Domestic politics has nothing to do with realizing that a terrorist attack using a handful of nukes would destroy the US as we know it. I'm not sure I'd want to live in what emerged from the ashes.

OH THOSE PESKY IRAQI WMD'S!

Russ:

Please do not publish any more complete articles from copyrighted sources.

A snippett along with a link would do just fine.

If you persist, I'm afraid I'm going to have to drastically cut what you post.

Only a paranoid idiot would believe that if the Administration knew there were WMD's they wouldn't have released the info prior to the election.

How much more "PR trouble" can you be in than almost losing an election?

Get. A. Grip. And adjust your tin foil hat...
