IRONY SO THICK YOU CAN BATHE IN IT

The entire case against Saddam and WMD rests on the assumption that sanctions would be in place forever.

The fact that in its totality, the left was agitating to lift economic sanctions - a move the Duelfer Report noted would almost have certainly made the arms embargo irrelevant - means that once free of constraints, Saddam would have been a year away from building a bomb.

Raw material? He had 500 tons of refined yellowcake under UN seal at al-Tuwaitha, an enrichment facility outside of Baghdad. Experts say that he could have built 6-8 bombs with that much uranium.

Remember, 10 years earlier we had carted off nearly a ton of Highly Enriched uranium to Russia and had it made inert. At that time (right after the Gulf War) you may recall the surprise of UNSCOM at the fact that Saddam was MONTHS away from enriching that uranium to the 85% necessary to construct a weapon.

Saddam had the raw material. He knew how to enrich uranium. He had a bomb design. Add it up and it doesn't matter what he showed the UN, his program could have been reconstituted and up and running in a matter of months with a workable bomb ready in about a year.

And THAT is what is implied in the Times article.

IS KERRY MELTDOWN A BLIP? OR A TURNING POINT?

Duh.

Kerry did apologize, didn't he? Who was right and who was wrong there, twit?

And although I got sidetracked a little in taking Cole to task for not vouchsafing conservative bloggers the same integrity with which he wishes to infuse himself, I disagreed with Cole and Kos for belittling the impact (obviously even more profound than I thought otherwise Kerry would have said screw you about apologizing)as a cheap Republican trick.

As for my "intellectual standing" (WTF does that mean? Sounds like a kid trying to talk like a grown up) and "gravitas" (more juvenile rot) my work speaks for itself. As for Cole "growing up in public" perhaps he should have grown up a little in private. His whining about politicians is puerile and immature. Anyone who would vote for a racist like Byrd over an inoffensive dork like Raese is a pouting child and should be called out for his stupidity.

BTW - I've taken Republicans to task for years on this fricking blog and I don't need some ignoramus lecturing me on the GOP or politics, or anything else for that matter.

And I'm as objective as I choose to be on any given subject at any given time. Don't like it, GTF out of here.

MY BELOVEDS WILL RIP THE HEART OUT OF SAN FRANCISCO

Ah yes...but was I right about the specifics?

1. Rex never went up top - stayed short in passing.

2. Desmond Clark - led team in receiving.

3.A long return by Hester.

4. Game over by halftime.

I missed on number of sacks and on Benson's participation - thought he'd see more action.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Sorry, Tim. I realize your intent was innocent but I will not publish your comment because of the graphic description you included.

IS DEFINING "VICTORY" IN IRAQ AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY?

Ed:

Not believing that the insurgents - like the Viet Cong before them - don't follow American politics and don't plan to increase the intensity of their operations during the election season is ignorant.

THESE ARE NOT STUPID PEOPLE. They know full well that we will leave sooner if Democrats are elected.

Deal with it.

INSULTING THE EXPLOITED

Limbaugh must have realized how extraordinarily stupid and insensitive his remarks were because he apologized for them later in the show.

I guess you didn't read the whole article.

PHOENIX RISING

C'mon Gwain. I say that the odds are against a perfect season. And I also make it pretty clear that the Bears didn't deserve to win.

Why get on my case? You make it sound as if I wrote that the Bears are super bowl locks.

You're just depressed because you have to put up with that clown T.O, and his sideshow. Cheer up! Cowboys should make the playoffs anyway. Weak schedule and a good defense will see to that.

GO WEST, YOUNG BEARS...GO WEST

Ouch!

You're correct. I suppose I'll have to change it although I hardly think anyone else will notice (yeah, right).

"AS LONG AS WE'RE TALKING, WE'RE NOT SHOOTING AT EACH OTHER"

Rational actors all, Milo. As I point out above (something you obviously didn't bother reading) "The diplomatic dance is successful when both parties are rational and both parties see an advantage in reaching an agreement.

Nixon's "Triangular Diplomacy" worked because both we and the Chinese were worried about Russia. Gorby absolutely had to come to an agreement on arms control in order to lower the defense budget so that the Soviet economy would succeed (Reagan saw the political and psychological benefits of a thaw with the Soviets at that time).

Your shallow critique falls apart at first glance. Try again.
