LEARNING NEW THINGS CAN BE FUN

For in pulling out all the stops to garner a political triumph, and becoming the number one enabler of demagoguery and fear mongering, he will have so riven the citizenry of this republic as to make any future efforts to solve our problems in a bi-partisan manner an impossibility.

Some uniter, huh?

There is always some degree of truth in demagoguery and hyperbole. Furthermore (and sadly), it works. While I wish the debate could be made without it, asking conservatives to eschew these tactics while the left wallows in it is like sending a soldier into battle, but telling him to leave the weapon at home. I don't like gunfights, but if I'm in one, don't ask me to just bring my knife.

PALIN'S OUTRAGEOUS DEMAGOGUERY: WHY NOT? EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING IT.

There is at least some level of vindication for Palin in that the Senate Finance committee today dropped the "death panel" provisions from the Senate bill: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/13/breaking-finance-committee-drops-death-panel-provisions-from-senate-bill/

Pretty effective demagoguery, huh?

VIOLENCE AT TOWN HALLS PREDICTABLE AND DISTURBING

Sadly, no one will listen to you. You are absolutely right- the result of this shit is exactly the opposite of what the offenders want.

Yes, Rick, we were all given brains, but the brain is also the source of emotion, and emotions trump intellect (for most).

But why does Obama get away with telling his supporters to "get in their faces", and "hit back twice as hard", and conservatives look like the bad guys? Newsflash, huh: double standard?

JUST LIKE THE BIRTHERS ONLY WORSE: LIBERAL CONSPIRACIES ABOUT HEALTH CARE REFORM

I think both sides are full of bloviating money tossing douchebags who are not fixing the problem.

Agreed.

Chuck, prove it, and I'll sign up with the Kook-in-chief. Oh yeah, and he marginalizes and belittles the office with every amateurish and incompetent action he makes on an almost daily basis(want a list?). He needs no help from me on that.

As long as I live, I will never cease to be shocked at the astounding hypocrisy of liberals. Clear evidence was presented that proved left wing astroturfing during the campaign, and liberals endorsed it. Now, simply the suggestion that the right is engaging in a tactic (which has the stamp of approval by liberals) has you up in arms.

Great post! "Kook-in-Chief" indeed.

I don't think he can help it... he's been sheltered his entire life from the "real world". You know... where you get a real job, where you actually have to have good grades to get into a good school like Harvard, where people don't buy half of the property that you want so you can buy the other half (at 1/3 of the cost), where having corrupt judges assist you in smearing your opponents to ensure your political victory. You know, that kind of real world, where we live, and he never has.

"Mark my words" number 1: this is a 1-term president.
"Mark my words" number 2: he is so steeped in Chicago politics, that it is only a matter of time before he tries something illegal, or nearly illegal, and the press and the liberals turn on him.

Of course, you may say I'm a partisan, but I would be predicting disaster for a hard-core conservative that is incompetent and corrupt.

TPM MUCKRAKER AND THINK PROGRESS SPREAD THE CRAPOLA

Blueprints for a townhall meeting? Not so much. Being prepared to see if your congressman has even read the salient points of the health-care bill? Check out this link for a few questions you should be prepared to ask your congressman about the bill:

THE RICK MORAN SHOW: Political Potpourri

Damn... wish I had known in advance. I love it when you have Stacy and Dan on. I would have definitely called in!

I think Griffin got canned from the school. The website has apparently taken down his picture, and Dan notes that the Grifster is being very coy (read: lying) about his status.

Random thoughts:
Did you notice that both Glenn Beck and Ann Coulter went off on the birthers? Wierd, huh? I figured both for birthers.

How's your book going? I think you and Stacy should collaborate on a project.

I think your Bears will do well this year (even if you do have a "pussy" for a quarterback LOL). Actually, its Cutler that makes me think they'll do well- I've always thought very highly of his ability. I can't believe my Dolphins didn't try to sign him.

A FEW RAMBLING THOUGHTS ON THE GATES AFFAIR

Michael Reynolds,
My understanding is that Gates followed Crowley out of his house, yelling at him, insulting him, and in general, creating a disturbance. I'm a gun-toting NRA member, and I would not at all be surprised or outraged if I were arrested for disturbance for following a cop outside, insulting his mother, and in general, creating a disturbance.

Your strawman is illogical: since (some) white people think the cop was justified, you say that they believe cops should have unlimited powers to arrest those who disagree with them. That is pure manipulation, and is just as invalid an argument as if I were to say that since some liberals think Crowley went too far, all liberals want to pay slavery reparations. There is no consensus on either side in which to group all white conservative thought.

I have no doubt that there are some racists on some police forces (maybe all forces). This was not one of them, and I can feel your pain that the arresting officer has been proven to be categorically non-racist. If he were racist, perhaps you could twist this into something other than what it is, but you've got nothing but an angry black man with a chip on his shoulder. I'm not going to convince you and you're not going to convince me, and your supercilious attitude about those that disagree with you ironically belittles your own intelligence.

I'M A LIAR - BUT DON'T HOLD THAT AGAINST ME

Your skills are too good to give away for free, or at least without a bit of shameless soliciting. My advice is, admit you were wrong to swear off fundraising, and move forward with a healthy dose of daily reminders of how much joy your readers get from the colorful and complex inner workings of your brain.

Take a lesson from your friend Stacy McCain, who is undoubtledly the most shameless writer in the blogosphere. Solicit early and often!

Stacy is shameless, isn't he? That's just not my style, I guess. But thanks, LH for the kudos - and the cash!

ed.
