THE DEMOCRATS IN A NUTSHELL

Kennedy, one of the shrewdest operators ever to prowl Wall Street, was right. He foresaw a time when government would see itself as the final arbiter in the market rather than market forces themselves. Hey, it worked in East Berlin- all you had to do was glance over the Wall and see its beautiful, bright skyline. I'm kidding.

PLEASE PASS THE SALT

No kidding, Charlie. The entired WORLD missed the call- but Rick gets the finger pointed at him. He's a big boy- he can handle it.

One thing I've always liked/respected about you and Michael Reynolds is that you guys will always admit when you're wrong. A little self-deprecation and humor goes a long way in my eyes. Politicians could learn a thing or two from you.

THE COTTON CANDY CANDIDACY

Banjo- I remember reading your paper tiger comment re: Obama. You were right. Nice call.

GOP DEBATE AN EXERCISE IN PILING ON

Except that I don't think Romney's that horrible.

FACING UP TO THE UNBEARABLE TRUTH

Rick, hell of a post. This isn't petty in-fighting- it goes to the heart and future of conservatism. Thought you hit it right yesterday on BlogTalk with Michael VDG of the Poligazette when you said that half of the state parties are controlled by so-cons. I live in a Red midwestern state with a 2/1 GOP voter registration differntial. Yet, as a direct result of the GOP's Great Divide, we have a Dem Governor and AG. My state often battles over inserting intelligent design (creationism) in biology texts, which is very disconcerting to secular conservatives.

An aside: go home to your momma. Love it- you crack me up.

AFTER THE STORM, A RISING TIDE

Brilliant, man, brilliant. I've always been a fan of philosophical journeys of the mind, particularly if they're not drug-induced. One of your more excellent pieces. Agree 100% on the line of demarcation drawn by Buchanan at the 92 convention (remember cringing just like it was yesterday). Also agree with your BlogTalkRadio observation that half of the state GOPs are controlled by social conservatives. It's certainly true here in Kansas. Bob Dole is a flaming lib by their standards. Jesus.

THAT WAS A CONVENTION TO REMEMBER (PART 3)

It is a face I don’t recognize nor do I want to associate with. It is the face of anger, of exclusion, of resentment... Spot on, Rick- as a securalist conservative, I'm totally with you here. At first I thought you were referring back to Buchannan's 1992 convention speech. :) Wrong convention.
