A SHORT NOTE ON ADDUCING THE POLITICS OF ANYONE BY PERUSING THEIR BOOKSHELF

The antenna in my tinfoil hat allows me to contact Rush Limbaugh to get the CPAC approved reading list. Right now I am reading “Red meat and Kool aid, the John Birch Society cookbook”.

On a more serious note, I picked up Mao’s little red book to see what the fuss was all about in the Red Guard era. What a load of nonsense psychobabble. But it is still on my bookshelf, guess I’m still in the Red Guard.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW: CPAC 2010

And the left is doing the same thing, no room for Blue Dogs in that party. So it looks like politics will boil down to two groups of people drinking Kool aid, wearing tinfoil hats and screaming at each other. Maybe a Blue RINO party is in the making just to escape the loonies.

PAUL RYAN'S LONELY VOICE

Col. David M. Glantz studied the USSR during the cold war and later when the Soviet archives were opened, wrote several books on the Eastern front during the Second World War. I strongly suggest “Stumbling Colossus” and “Colossus Reborn” for a good insight as to the titanic struggles between Germany and the USSR where up to 80% of German armed forces were deployed. For starters this is a paper he wrote for the Strom Thurman institute,

http://www.strom.clemson.edu/publications/sg-war41-45.pdf

After reading this you will understand the tremendous sacrifices made by the people of the Soviet Union caught between two of the most ruthless dictators in history. After reading Glantz you will also realize that statements about lend lease and frostbite winning the war to be not only wrong but a gross insult to the people who sacrificed so much to defeat Hitler.

WHAT'S ALL THE HUB-BUB ABOUT CAMPAIGN FINANCE?

If a corporation is a “person” for free speech is it also a “person” in terms of the draft? In other words can corporations be drafted [nationalized] in times of national emergency? And if so who determines when we have a national emergency? It seems to me you can’t grant rights without including the duties of citizenship. On questions of war and peace I know that my decision could mean my being drafted, it should be the same for the corporation.

WHY CONSERVATISM IS DISCONNECTED FROM REALITY

The extreme left is just as deranged as the right. As political moderate it’s like driving in a car with a couple of two year olds in the back seat screaming at each other about who did what to who first. My take is that people the extremes are the same type of people, righteous and inflexible in their views and completely incapable of rational thought when it comes to their ideology..

SARAH PALIN AS THE PIVOT FOR 'NEW' GOP

One of the Blue Dog Dems who is retiring from politics said the said the whole process is now so toxic that you can’t even attempt to talk to the other side with out being denounced by the Righteous true believers. I don’t know how many times I have seen a comment referring to Obama as “spineless” for not getting the Liberal agenda passed. So it looks like the Dems are also moving to the extreme. With the right kicking out the RINOs and the left doing the same to the Blue Dogs what we will be left with is two political cults rather than political parties. Of course inevitable conclusion to all of this is that without any moderates eventually people stop shouting at each other and start shooting. We are looking more and more like Spain before the Civil war.

THE GRAHAM-DeMINT AXIS OF THE GOP

So as a centrist I’m supposed to vote for a political party where RINOs are out for political impurity and the fringe is quoting Psalm 109:8 and 9? Good luck with that.

PALIN WINS -- AND LOSES ME

Wm. F. Buckley shattered the illusion that the Liberals were the intelligentsia with all of the solutions. Now Palin will be the face of conservatism? The downturn in the polls for the healthcare proposals are going to be attributed to Palin and her ilk but nothing could be further from the truth. The support is going south due to the cost, not the antics of the birthers. If this does in fact become Obama’s “Waterloo” then you are looking at the new Conservative movement.

LEARNING NEW THINGS CAN BE FUN

Health Co-ops worked well in Grand Junction Colorado, and it is an attractive alternative for small employers. If Republicans were to join with blue dog Dems they could greatly influence the legislation along those lines. But with some Dems pandering the move on types on their side and Republicans calling for a “waterloo” for Obama [and don’t forget the birthers] all you get is a toxic stew of bile. Every member of Congress is looking at the primary fight they will go through and unfortunately it is these righteous ones that show up and determine the nominee. With birthers and move ons determining the candidates no wonder we are in the state we are in.

Ken, start a new movement? Thinking Conservatives are denounced as elitist, fine, let the Limbaugh crowd take the title of “real” conservatives. You don’t need all of that baggage anyway. Define yourselves in someway that shows seriousness about fiscal responsibility as well as non governmental, free economy, solutions to problems. That would resonate powerfully with not only a new conservative movement but also with the center that is looking for fresh ideas to get out of our fiscal mess. Don’t just go after Liberals, pick apart their arguments but offer alternatives. Fight them on the intellectual level, not the emotional level, like Wm. F. Buckley did. More and more people are identifying themselves as “independent”, so I think that there are quite a few citizens out there that are in the same boat as you, Find them, start small, and watch the numbers grow with the added benefit that you don’t have to answer for the Hannities and birthers. Looks like the movement might already be taking shape.
