And Rick, are you claiming that she was an affirmative action choice?
It seems to me that to ignore her qualifications for the job (she has more time on the bench than any other the current members of the court had when confirmed, you are proving that the need for affirmative actions still exists today.
Did Bush also play the race card and engage in identity politics with Gonzales, Rice or Powell?
Or for that matter with the nomination of Roberts? He too has a race you know.

No, if someone claims moderation and votes for someone this far out of the mainstream, they are liars. I’ll be looking at the Nelsons and Webbs closely on this one.
If she is indeed that far out of the mainstream then why did Bush appoint her to the appellate court and the senate confirm her. Confirmed unanimously no less.

We were infuriated! Especially after France refused US Air Force flyover rights,
Yet I couldn't buy a drink for three days.
It seems the French (as much as I often despise them) aren't as lock stop in agreement as you are with the US.
Refreshing actually.
But I still dread the occasional business trip to Paris. Then again, Paris isn't Cannes, or St Tropez, or St Rapheal.

Not that I can see. Want to refinance your home right now? You certainly can and at extremely attractive rates. The same goes for home equity loans if you still have any equity. Getting a car loan is still relatively easy with a decent credit score.
Certainly if you are a lousy credit risk you will have problems. But isn't that as it should be and didn't the fact that it wasn't a big part of the mess we've collectively created?
From what I understand, how tight the credit market depends on the region you live in. Here in IL, car dealerships are begging for a bailout because they can't finance their sales. Credit cards are raising rates and cutting limits. It is quite bad here. And you are correct that this is the way it should be - except that riskier loans in a good economy are easier to get and the customer will pay a significant premium for access to that credit.

Yes I agree. It isn't nearly as productive as calling your opponents simple minded sophists.
Gingrich is just trying to maintain his conservative talking head position. Rick Moran on the other hand seems to be whining about how 71 comments proves the debate was stifled.
And of course, this debate over a really stupid Limbaugh parody song aimed squarely at the 25% dead enders has thoroughly ruined polite political discourse in this country.

I can see several reasons why, on certain issues at least, you find it impossible to have a conversation with anyone.

Using the term "racist" stifles debate. It is useless to continue a conversation after using that term on your opponent because you have settled any arguement about race in your favor. You have assumed a morally superior position based solely on your definition of what "racism" means.
How can you have a conversation when one of the debaters doesn't want to debate?
