WHY THE FUSS? IT'S JUST A HOLE IN THE GROUND.

If it were to occur he should be met at the WTC by tens of thousands of flag-waving Americans. That ought to make a good photo-op for him, ehhh?

'WHERE THERE IS A MEXICAN, THERE IS MEXICO"

If Mexicans living in America are part of Mexico then let Mexico's national healthcare system pay their medical bills and mortgage defaults and let Mexico incarcerate the rapists, drug dealers, and other felons living north of the nonexistent border.

Oh yeah, and those anchor babies aren't Americans after all, are they???

IRAQI LEADERS AGREE ON REFORMS...SORT OF

How different would the world be if there were a western "political" surge in concert with the military counterterror surge rather than a political surge AGAINST the military surge? This agreement may just be a political move by the main players in Iraqi politics, but that's still a good thing. The more the parties argue with words and dollars rather than bombs and bullets the more they move in a democratic direction. Perhaps that's why certain Senators have chosen to polarize the debate by calling for the undemocratic removal of a democratically selected head of state.

ON GETTING SCREWED

It's actually an interesting marketing strategy by Flynt to increase circulation by outing certain high profile customers or are we supposed to believe philandering pols don't read Hustler?

CONGRESSIONAL EARMARKS AND DUKE CUNNINGHAM

The tragedy of the Cunningham affair is that it reminds us how irresistable the lure of the seven deadly sins can be. Earmarks and campaign contributions are not THE problem but symptoms OF the problem. Some people take home pencils, pens, and frequent flyer miles from the office too many Congressmen and procurement officials take home earmarks. Both groups defend themselves the same way - it's no big deal - everybody does it - it's really just chump change in the grand scheme of things, etc. When Congressmen and government officials get this confused about right and wrong they need to be reminded as Congressman Cunningham has been that the benefits of your decisions/actions in office belong to the people not to your retirement fund.

THE INTELLECTUAL DISHONESTY OF THE OPEN BORDERS CROWD

Until Congress wakes up and makes it EASIER to follow the law than it is to ignore the law, no immigration reform plan will work.

Border enforcement, assimilation, valid identity/work documents are all important and great ideas but they all require the majority to comply voluntarily. The federal immigration bureaucracy is so hopelessly broken nobody even wants to try to fix it - but a bureaucracy that makes people wait months or years for a visa or green card is one that makes it too tempting to just walk across the border...
