A SHORT NOTE ON ADDUCING THE POLITICS OF ANYONE BY PERUSING THEIR BOOKSHELF

Beautifully said, Rick. Right on.

Evidently, the songs didn't make you curious enough because it's Harlan County, Kentucky - not Tennessee.

Heh - right you are - will fix.

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH

A useful set of commentaries on why the Duke case was intrinsically (and correctly) one of the most important news stories in the US.

http://www.newsobserver.com/news/q/

Notice nobody there says anything near as asinine and casually vicious as Terry Moran.

Who is advising your brother. For him to have not come out and made a concillatory statement is foolish in the extreme.

Perhaphs he thinks he can get away with his column.

In this environment, I doubt it. If he doesn't do something, he won't be fired.

But his career is still toast.

Rick- Good boy. See there is at least one non-snarky bone in your body. Even if it took a few hours to locate.

(can you give a few details of the other Moran brothers, I am beginning to think there is a good Tenenbaums screenplay here for me)

The problem with Terry's predicament was that he was trying in the world's worst blog posting to be a controversalist when his job is actually to be colorless and earnest. (that he failed to come across as anything than a d*#$ was just his ineptness)

True, his whole career was aiming at a job which no longer exists - newsreader for the nation.

But no matter. At base, blow-dry doesn't mix with race-baiting and faux class envy. Too jarring (Just ask the failing Keith Olbermann)

Once it was revealed to the world that earnest, prepped out reporter Terry Moran is actually an arrogant blowhard out of touch with the niceties of common courtesy and journalistic integrity, with control over his tongue it is going to be difficult put things back where they were.

It's the Uncle Don problem.

A NON ENDING TO A NON STORY

Rick- I beg to differ on the first point.

And to bring up the real world.

But I would say you brother does need your help, right now.

Unless you think that someone who has apparently been avariously dedicated to career advancement in his own chosen field (bland newsreader and face of the network), can face the destruction of his career over a stupidly overopinionated, obnoxious blog post, without help from his family.

If you believe that, then, yeah, I guess you are correct.

Why not posts on your brother's predicament.

As a new reader, one can see similar "Moran" traits in your own writings. Although you seem to be a lot smarter, there is the same condescension, the annoying know-it-all attitude, the same failure to grasp why people care about what they care about.

You brother is in danger of losing his job tonight (which although he deserves it, I hope it doesn't happen).

That really says more about America in 2007 than your post.

IN WHICH I FEEL IT NECESSARY TO BURNISH MY CONSERVATIVE BONA FIDES SO THAT THE MOUTH BREATHING, SCROTUM SCRATCHING NINCOMPOOPS UNDERSTAND WHAT MAKES A TRUE GENTLEMAN OF THE RIGHT

guess Ann hasn't gotten the 'narrative' that anything less than total approval and acceptance of homosexuality is verboten. These so-called 'conserative' bloggers have bought into the dialectic of the left. I'm sure with their denunciation of Ann, they'll still be able to hold their jobs, and not be 'beyond the pale'. but the left will still hate these 'linguini spined conservatives' as much as if they said the 'f' word themselves. But they hasten the day when any speech that upsets any homosexual, including a bible verse, is outlawed.

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

Thank you for saying this RightWingNuthouse. I'm a lib and didn't even know about your site but I think it's crucial that voices of reason refute such disgusting comments coming from a portion of the political arena. Admittedly I probably wouldn't agree with much of your politics, but still, credit to you for taking an ethical stand against dialogue that just is not defensible in any way shape, or form. Your stand should be recognized across party lines and by all who really want the best for Americans. Adam's Apple should be shunned by everyone.
