THE ANTI-REASON CONSERVATIVES

My point is not that conservatives should have accepted Dede but that the post-Dede outcry to go after “moderates” and RINO’s” is idiotic and that the idea that the same tactics used in NY23 could be grafted elsewhere is loony.

Shorter Moran: OK, I'm gonna give you that one.

'UNRULY' CONSERVATIVES SHOCK THE GOP IN NY23

Some commentors on the leftist blogs refer to Owens as a conservative, so they think whether it is Owens or Hoffman who gets elected, it will be a loss for liberals.

I doubt Owens is as conservative as they claim, but I do believe the Daily Kos endorsed Scozzafava because she was the most liberal candidate.

TRENDS FOR 2010 BEGINNING TO WORRY DEMOCRATS

Do you mean http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/ ? I went to 538.com and got a vile domain squatter who deserves no links.

Ooops! Copied the link right from the Politico article. Should have taken the link from the website.

Thanks for the heads up.

LEARNING NEW THINGS CAN BE FUN

(Note: Emanuel’s brother is not writing the bill, nor is Holdren going to have anything to do with running any state controlled health care system

Good point -- it's not like America has to live with czars. Thank Gaia for that.

Rick, you're unquestionably the next John Cole. I smelled it during the "let's give him a chance" phase of 200 days ago. Go ahead, cash your checks, and make your exit left. You've got the support of the requisite commentariat. Why do you maintain your stance as a conservative? When you don't write like one? There's nothing here remotely right wing, not for many moons.

WHAT'S THE RUSH TO MARS, BUZZ? IT'S NOT LIKE IT'S GOING ANYWHERE

Good point, Rick. I'm going to advise my grandsons that dreams are just pointless hogwash.

When dreams cost $400 billion - $1 trillion that we don't have, you might ask your grand kids how great they'll feel paying for it.

And I guess when I support the idea of commercial space companies going there, that's just not the same. No dream there, huh? To prove how dreamy you are, you want to spend taxpayer dollars to do something that in a couple of decades, private firms will be able to do.

Again, it's just not the same, right? Private firms will be able to do it for one tenth the cost, and get there before NASA would anyway. But then, we wouldn't have that dreamy joy of paying for the gross inefficiency, bureaucratic bottlenecks, and cost overruns that NASA is famous for.

We can’t afford national health care but we can afford a trip to Mars?

It's about frontiers, Rick. There's not a single damned frontier in nationalized socialistic health care.

Never fear, though -- we'll hammer down every stinking dreamer left. Even your private, commercial space flight...I suspect that's not long left to draw breath. Why bother, if it's gonna be a NASA subsidiary next week?

Frontiers are nice for dreaming - if you happen to have $400 billion or more lying around not doing anything. Let the commercialization of space begin and get NASA out of the way. A private venture to Mars will cost far less than what NASA would spend and actually accomplish something. It may take a few decades longer, but the return will be fabulous.

A WORD ABOUT PUBLIC VIRTUE

I forgot you disallow basic html formatting -- strike out "our politicians" and replace with "we" and strikeout "their," and replace with "our."

Never mind anyway, it doesn't matter.

And not demanding our politicians we adhere to simple, republican virtues in their our public life may have already ruined the dreams of the Founders beyond repair.

I fixed it for you.

Seriously, who would ask a man to do what they won't do?

MICHAEL JACKSON, WORLD FAMOUS PEDOPHILE, DEAD AT 50

If there was any conclusive evidence that MJ had done anything to those kids he would have been found guilty. He wasn't found guilty.

You can pull any allegation out your ass and claim it to be true but it has to be proven.

OBAMA'S CAIRO SPEECH COULD HAVE BEEN BRAVER

Joe, interesting analysis. As I read your post I realized how I could easily switch the names and party affiliation with Democrats and liberals and much of what you said would be equally true of the unhinged liberal left. You are in power for now. But nothing lasts forever in politics. You all were equally unfair and rabid for the past 8 years specifically and for the last 50 years in general. Its a sad commentary on American politics that so many on both sides are so demeaning towards those who they don't agree with and show an intolerable lack of ability to interact on a civilized and intelligent level (and yes, I did say both sides).

Having said that, this was a fine speach that people on both sides can find things to agree with and to disagree with. I appreciate sane voices on both sides that discuss the issue. Have you thought of joining them in civil discourse?
