JOKE OF THE DAY

Since I used to be an altar boy for the 6:30 AM mass, I heartily agree!

ANOTHER MORAN TAKES UP THE PEN

So do I. Today, protestors really have to do something nasty to get arrested. The authorities are much less willing to make martyrs out of them.

MORE "ANGER AND DESPAIR" FROM THE LEFT

Did people predict that bad things would happen if we invaded?

Absolutely. Only problem is - if you can believe it - the predictions were actually worse than the mess we have today.

If you read this blog at all, you know that I am not a cheerleader of this war. I have been brutal in my criticism of Rumsfeld and Bush in the prosecution of this war - especially in the lastyear.

That said, I documented no less than 7 times since the invasion that lefty blogs and the MSM said that civil war was right around the corner. It took the bombing of the Samarra shrine to set off the kind of violence that has "extra judicial" execution style deaths prevelant.

The point is that the massive refugees predicted never materialized. The starvation and disease predictions never materialized. The massive insurgency never materialized. The popularity of al Qaeda is at an all time low in the arab and muslim world. The stop-start-stop of political reform in Iraq is nevertheless moving slowly forward (read Jim Holstein's piece on strategy page about the difficulty of the Iraqis in understanding the concept of sharing power and you'll understand why it's taking so long to form a government.

The fact is "nightmare" was a ridiculous description of Iraq.

And what about the nightmares predicted about other terrorist attacks in the US? Nada. Zip. Zero.

Try again, Cat...

"STAY AT HOME" REPUBLICANS

Of course if it makes you feel better to pull your little protest stunt of not voting and giving the country to the Democrats because things haven’t gone perfectly under Republicans, then go right ahead and make your point.

You're kidding, right? "Things haven't gone perfectly?"

I would say they couldn't get much worse. And it's not the fault of the Dems or the MSM, but of the people in charge in the House and Senate.

IRAN: EVERYBODY PLEASE RELAX AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH

Stop reading headlines. The thrust of the article was that Iran would have enough HE uranium to build a weapon 16 days after they initiate a fuel run involving 54,000 centrifuges.

That said, I stand by my statement that while the right is talking about no other option besides the military one, the left has jacked up the temperature and rhetoric by positing the silliest damn notions of why Bush will bomb sooner rather than later.

John:

Not wanting to necessarily contradict your take on the possibility of Israeli action, here's a piece by Steve Clemons (no moonbat, although definitely a man of the left):

http://www.tpmcafe.com/node/28567

I don't think the Israeli's are quite as resigned to Iranian nukes as he makes out but certainly the problems with an Israeli strike - not the least of which is that they simply don't have the capability to take out so many targets over such a wide area - have been well documented.

In a sense, this is even more dangerous because it would put the Israelis on an extreme hair trigger with their own nukes. All it would take would be a couple of false images on a radar and the world would be in trouble.

No good options means no good outcome. Which is why barring evidence that the mullahs are actually going to use their nukes once they get them, a military solution may cost us more than it's worth.

CARNIVAL OF THE CLUELESS #40: THE SPRING FEVER EDITION

"But then, I guess anyone who worked for Clinton deserves to be smeared with a sobriquet suggestive of murder, right?"

As opposed to smearing responsible conservatives by saying that deep down, they're really racists.

Thank you for elevating the national dialogue. Stick to outing the Klan - you do a fine job at that. Leave politics to the grownups please.

FITZY "CORRECTS THE RECORD"

Um...how about the fact that there was much less reason for Bush or Cheney to "order" Libby to talk about Plame sending Wilson to Niger thus leaving Bush and Cheney "out of the loop" on outing Plame.

Guess that doesn't count...After all IT"S THE FRICKIN BASIS FOR THE MOONBAT'S ENTIRE WET DREAM ABOUT BUSH!

That is an unfair, ridiculous characterization of my comment.

It isn't a question of "telling the truth" it's a question of making a statement of any kind that, as you've proven by your idiotic comment, would be twisted by loons like you into something radically different than what was intended.

Of course, giving someone a fair trial seems to stick in your craw. Maybe we should just burn Libby at the stake now - save you liberals the trouble.
