Before commenting, I wish everyone would read the update from ABC news last night.
This story is nothing. It is bullshit. It is ABC trying to play up being an aggreived party when it is clear that the FBI - NOT NSA, NOT THE CIA - is looking at the phone records in connection with a legitmate criminal inquiry into the leaking of classified information.
Get it through your thick heads, moonbats. You are making yourself look like total idiots over nothing.

I hope to hell you're right. And I agree that the possibility that they've achieved that level of expertise is remote.
But we still don't know everything Khan was selling in his bazarr. Might he have been able to slip a few kilos of weapons grade uranium into Iran? Since he won't talk to us anymore, we might not ever know. But I can't be the only one perplexed by this fellow Ahmadinejad. He seems so brazen in his threats, so matter of fact about them. Is he really bluffing?

My comment about nationalizing telecoms was indeed satire. Stoller thinks that because AT&T et al cooperated with the government in the program that they should be damned, which is silly reasoning.
As for the rest of your comment, the mischief making potential of government always exceeds that of private businesses. AT&T can't put you in jail.

I am troubled by the pattern of behavior of this Administration in that they constantly seek to roll up to the line of legality and bump against it. I suppose being at war can be used as a justification but I share some of your concerns. Taken individually, each of these national security measures could be considered reasonable and proper. But when you place them side by side, an somewhat different pattern emerges - one that this country is desperate for a debate over.
I point out the problems with having a debate - no rational opposition. Which makes your comment regarding Clinton fairly true.

Actually, my reference to Hitler was non germane and probably should have dropped it. But when I read that part of the letter dealing with the death of democracy it brought to mind what Hitler talked about in Mein Kampf.
My enthusiasm got the better of me there. And I don't think I was comparing the left to Hitler at all. It was just a sidebar observation to what Ahmadinjad wrote.
And how do you get a desire to stifle internal debate out of what I wrote? Are you saying that criticism is out of bounds? You can rant on to your heart's content as far as I'm concerned - more power to ya. But "stifle dissent?" C'mon, get real.

You embrace what amounts to a corporate media, military industrial quasi-facist state, in which any contrary message from within is equivalent to a direct attack on the nation, and therefore punishable – you have not said how.
Why must there be punishment? I guess laughing you off this website may be considered a form of "punishment" although your idiocy deserves something more creative - like maybe throwing water balloons at you.

Got it backward. The terrorist enemy is deliberately using arguments created by domestic opposition to both give it legitamacy and because they know that it strikes a responsive chord in many in the western left.
It would be more accurate to compare the terrorist enemy's tactics to the tactics used by the left. Big difference.
