NIE ON IRAQ PUTS BURDEN FOR PROGRESS ON IRAQIS

mmmm...depends on what constitutes "effective."

I'd say right now we're keeping the violence to an unacceptable but bearable level. But if we go, it will be a nightmare of a catastrophe - worse than Darfur as I point out. Sadr is dead serious - as serious Milosevic ever was - about cleansing Iraq of Sunnis. That would mean that 5 million people would be on the move - an intolerable situation. Especially since (and I violently disagree with Krauthammer about this) we were the catalyst that freed the Shias to carry out this pogrom.

I say that a mission to save the Sunnis is a worthwhile mission and one we are obligated to undertake - morally and in a strategic sense.

What "bias" are you referring to?

Thems the facts - part of the story anyway. As far as the 2002 NIE, that was thrown together in less than two weeks. This is the product of many months of analysis and discussion.

Are you saying that what I wrote is reflective of some kind of "bias" that prevents me from seeing what's really going on? Why not tell me what you think is happening in Iraq? How swell everything is. How there aren't 1.8 million refugees or 200 pple being murdered a day in sectarian bloodletting. Or that the government is universally loved and respected by all Iraqis.

If we are going to win any kind of a victory, it is going to be because we deal with Iraq as it is not as we wish it to be.

As I'm sure you're aware, Badr organization operates mostly in the south although they've been more aggressive lately. With our focus on Baghdad, we probably won't run in to too many Badrites there.

You are correct, though. However, there is a better chance that the Badr Organization can be melded into society without destroying them given their close connection to the SCIRI and al-Hakim being one of their top commanders at one time (not sure if he still is).

Despite the close connection with Iran, I think that the Badr Organization may actually end up helping us leave Iraq in the end.

THEY JUST CAN'T HELP THEMSELVES

Mr. Bushahppy:

Your comment was deleted for being non germane to the post and for insulting the host.

ALL MY SONS

Goy:

Nice misdirection. I like it. Obviously, I disagree about the plot. This has wonderful possibilities. Will Jack execute his own brother? Will Dad program the nukes? Will we ever see anything of the aftermath of the blast?

And there was speculation on the boards last year about Graem being Jack's brother. Whether that was just lucky guessing or there were some hints dropped I don't know.

golfer:

When the nuke went off, I wrote that I thought it was too serious an event to be flippant about. At that time, I said that I wouldn't include any nuke casualties in the body count.

A practical reason is that there is no way they can confirm that number of 12,000.

KARBALA ATTACK: "A VERY DISTURBING DAY"

1. Bill Roggio ferreted out this angle to the story. Please note the caveat "if true" that I used.

2. Why would Iran do it?

Why continue to try and enrich uranium when they know they're going to get hit? If not by us then certainly by Israel. There are things about this story that we don't know. For instance, how did the group penetrate security? That's something the US doesn't want out there but my guess would be that their English was very, very good or our guys were very, very lax.

As for your theory about insurgent special forces, it is an intruiging possibility but doesn't explain their making for the Iranian border. And I don't buy the Iranians being put off by Bush bombing them. They think the US and Iran have been at war since 1979. The fact that we don't recognize that fact is immaterial to them.

Also, they could be reading the Washington Post or New York Times in Tehran where it has been reported that Congressional leaders have warned Bush not to take action against Iran without coming through them first.

Or, they could simply care less about the bombing. After all, the leadership will be safe. If the people suffer, well that's just the cost of war.

The Qods Force is extremely well organized and well trained. I have no way of knowing but I agree with Roggio - an Iranian operation.

ANTI-WAR PROTEST: WHERE IS EVERYONE?

SA:

"Hypocritically arrogant?"

Don't think so. Suggest you try a thesarus. Or maybe remedial reading.

Ken:

How'd I miss that? Someone so intelligent unable to spell "intelegent?"

Too precious...too precious.

Dennis:

At first I thought your comment was spam. The way it started out, I thought you were going to go into some kind of penis enlargement shtick. You know..."Since my brain is so big my penis must be big too..."

Imagine my surprise when I realized that it was a real person doing all that bragging about how smart they were - IQ being the most overrated indicator of intelligence there is.

But the reason I deleted your comment was because you can't spell "montebank." The correct spelling is "mountebank" and yes - the snake oil salesman on the mall last weekend were a bunch of abject cowards. I figure anyone with an IQ as high as yours that can't spell is either a 1) fraud or 2) a mountebank.

I would have included "loon" as a descriptive for you but you obviously have a thing for the fowl. It may comfort you to know that the word "loon" has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the bird of the same name.

If you can fit a few more bits of info into that gigantic brain of yours, it might interest you to know that "loon" as a synonym for crazy or insane is a derivative of the latin word for moon - "luna" - which until quite recently was thought to cause most madness in humans and animals.

You can't spell and your grasp of the English language being weak and incomplete, I suggest you stop commenting at this site before I do something entertaining for my readers and actually print your comments - revealing you to be the gigantic liar and braggart that you truly are.

ADDENDUM:

OH MY GOD! You actually went ahead and tried to repost the same comment! Very well. You win.

Ladies and Gentlemen...I give you Dennis - the man with the small penis, monumental ego, and a brain ranked in the 99th percentile...of what species we're not sure but there you have it

You are still dumber than dog do. The whole point of the post was that we are NOT falling into a dictatorship and that only paranoid loons like you believe it.
