Um...Larry:

You left your comment on the wrong post.

Kinda sums up liberalism in 1 word or less.

THE LONDON PLOT THICKENS

Agreed. I was perturbed with your intimation that I agreed it was a bunch of amatuers sitting in a basement with a child's chemistry set, which is what Oppenheimer and the other "expert" quoted in the article were basically saying. They both went out of their way to say how unsophisticated the device was.

My point was that the police were saying something totally different.

I'm sorry if I got a little snarky but when I wrote that I had just deleted the comment of a regular troll who brought out the Bush "false flag" conspiracy theory. I guess I took it out on you, sorry.

In your haste to be sarcastic and nasty, you failed to notice that I was correcting the impression made by the article the previous day that the device was "crude." As mentioned in both the Times and Post articles, the bomb was technically proficient and professional.

Your comment (as usual) is both ignorant and tiresome.

Do you and Oliver Willis sleep together? If not, you sure got his talking points down pat.

IS THIS MY FATHER'S ENGLAND?

I'm not the only one who believes that England may give in and give up:

I wish I was as optimistic. Given the numbers for and against the Iraq War and the geneal laizze fair attitude Brits seem to have about Islamists in their midst, I just think that something has gone out of the Brits since WW II. Maybe it was the burden of empire, I don't know.

Maggie Thatcher temporarily revived a sense of "Britishness" I thought but the Blair Administration has been so internationalist and geared toward integrating the Brits into Europe that it just doesn't seem to me that they're the same people who stood alone against Hitler for two years.

I hope I'm wrong.

A WAR AGAINST MORAL EQUIVALENCY

That was a great post! I remember it because I think I quoted from it and linked to it myself.

LONDON'S TURN IN TERROR WAR

On August 5, 1945, the day before Hiroshoma, the Japanese still had nearly 4 million men under arms. They had also mobilzed some 30 millions of their population to resist the American invasion.

On the aforementioned Okinawa, the Japanese fought with suicidal fury. Seeing this, there were many conservative newspapers (Chicago Trib, Hearst publications) that called for an easing of the Potsdam Declaration that called for the Japanese unconditional surrender.

No one in America thought on August 5th that Japan was in its "final throes" or nearing unconditional surrender. War planners in Washington believed the earliest the war could be over would have been the fall of 1946 or spring of 1947.

Only idiots who know nothing of history would make a statement that posits the notion that Japan was nearing unconditional surrender. So maybe I should forgive you when you accuse me of saying that the terrorists are near the end and simply chalk it up to your breathtaking ignorance.

35,000 American dead and wounded on Okinawa. Again, you've proven that you have no stomach for the long haul. If you're not a defeatist, you are grump.
