CARNIVAL OF THE CLUELESS #11

David Frum:

But make no mistake: Americans are unhappy about the war in Iraq because they fear they are losing--not because they think the war wrong or immoral. Americans do not blame “American imperialism” for the problems of the Middle East. They know that Islamic terrorism threatens their country and favor strong measures to crush terrorism.

Gallup: 46% of Americans do NOT think the war was a mistake (margin of error + or - 4%) And despite an anti-war media campaign the lies of which this country has never seen, 44% of the people think that the war is going well or very well.

There are polls...and then there are polls.

We are a country divided. And as long as the Democrats persist in their folly, they will never be trusted by the American people with national security.

Think about that the next time you leave a drive by idiotic comment.

Mr. Baffled:

That goes along with the Rasmussen Poll of the same time that has Bush at 44%.

Gee...you don't think that ARG poll could be like, you know, skewed toward Democrats now, do you?

People are reacting to gas prices - a result of golden boy Clinton not building one single refinery in 8 years, nor one single nuke plant, nor having any kind of domestic energy policy that made sense.

When asked if we should leave Iraq now, nearly 67% of people say no.

Get real. Get a life. Get a job.

PAT ROBERTSON: TEAM AMERICA ASSASSIN

First of all, settle down willya? It's a hot day here.

Second, I will repeat...anyone who says we should kill Chavez is a nut. It will not make the situation better, it will make it worse.

And yes, I've seen Robertson's show numerous times. I've found his straight news acceptable but his analysis shallow and shortsighted.

Anyone who advocates assassinating Chavez is a goof.

Ever think what that might do to our relations with the rest of Latin America?

Obviously not. And even if it may be something to contemplate only an idiot would say it in public.

MOONBAT SERENADE

I went back and reread my post just to make sure I wrote what I intended. Sure enough, just as I suspected, you either didn't read the post or you're accusing me of exactly what you say I was doing - reading things into this other guy's writings.

Nowhere did I accuse him of anti-semitism or anti-Americanism. I did accuse Cindy Sheehan and the gimlet-eyed radicals who have captured her little side show in Crawford and are using it for their own purposes.

My comment left on his blog was a two or three sentence dismissive of his fawning over Mrs. Sheehan. It was not hateful. It was not obscene. He deleted the comment because I mocked him for being such an idiot.

Frankly, if I used that criteria here, there wouldn't be too many dissenting views....or comments.

Finally, who's trying to "solve issues?" Certainly not me. As I said at the top, I get 4 or 5 posts a week calling me all sorts of vile, personal names (as well as making fun of the name of the site which even you couldn't resist). I usually don't respond to them. But since this idiot not only deleted my comment but then did a blog post explaining WHY he deleted my comment, I couldn't resist.

THE GHOST OF CHUCK HAGEL CHANNELS THE GHOST OF VIET NAM

Only uninformed fools think that Iraq is anything like Viet Nam. The differences are so profound that only someone from the loony left could make a statment like that with a straight face.

As for civil war, I'll believe it when it happens. The factions in Iraq have too much invested in unity to be seriously contemplating all out civil strife. Will there be clashes? I'm sure there will be just as I'm sure that you and other leftist defeatists who wish to see America humiliated and defeated on the field of battle are the only common link with Viet Nam.

Traitors never change their stripes.

Now that you've removed the obscenity...no.

Please try to be coherent or don't bother commenting. Your infantile rant drags down the quality of my site.

And if you're going to wildly exaggerate the status of our military, please adjust your tin foil hat by fastening the strap under your chin a little tighter.

BTW...the military doesn't want fat, out of shape, curmudgeonly old men like me. And since you're taking me to task for not enlisting, perhaps I should feel free to speculate that you're not enlisting because you hate this country and don't feel it worth defending. But that would be wrong.

"STOP THE ACLU" AD BLEG

Tom:

I suppose you could be dumber. But then you'd be a piece of wood and not much fun to laugh at.

The ACLU is an organization that exists to satisfy the agenda of its far left leadership.

That agenda has grown more political over the last decade. If the ACLU only worked to protect the constitution (as it used to) I would support it now as I did then.

The ACLU has changed...I haven't.
