FERMI WAS RIGHT: SO WHERE ARE THEY?
in Asimov's 3 major SF series - robots, galactic empire, and foundation - Earth was indeed unique - the only planet to develop such a diverse biosphere - at the end of foundation series, he attributed it to the tides from our moon and the fact that a normal-sized planet (non-gas giant) with such a large moon was so completely rare, and hence the only planet with strong tides - churning up the oceans and radioactivity for higher rates of mutations. Anyway, it took the opposite view - that we are exceedingly rare.

Have the tea party when I am not working to pay for Obama's socialists agenda and I can guarantee 3/4 of my office would be there. Everyone is already sick of him, including the people who voted for him.

Uhh...Gore sprinted to court first, after two or three recounts didn't quite work out. The FL Supremes nearly got away with selecting him.
But, the wizards of vote fraud have another bite of the apple, or ACORN.

What makes me bitter & clingy is that Bush governed far, far from the notion of conservatism. For that matter, so, too, did the GOP Congress.
The pay-off or pay-back is that we're facing a prospective President in Obama with a plainly authoritarian streak, and a wink & nod for fraudulent voting & stormtrooper tactics.
All literature & films about fascism (7 Days in May/JFK, etc.) nowithstanding, if fascism gains here, it'll creep in on little progressive feet. Always has.

I was reading Crooks and Liars just before coming here and thought this commenter put the lie to Olberman's five minute rant in one sentence:

Truth is people like Olberman never gave this president any benefit of the doubt.
They never considered him "their" president and never will accept any Republican.

Go to American Thinker for some contra views to Rick Moran's. Another old military saying is amatuers at war think of tactics and maneuevers while professional think in logistics. After a couple of years+, the DoD has finally found what seems to be a solution: take an area and have trained Iraqi military units hold it. It's not a new method and has been highly effective in the past. I've not heard or read anything that will be better or have success in combating a guerilla war. Unless you do have the key to Iraqi in your pocket, changing now (imho) is just not only a huge mistake but an out right declaration of surrender in Iraq and, by extension, the war itself. Another old saying is the barbarians always win. Now we understand why.
