GOLDBERG ON TORTURE: SOPHISTRY ON A STICK

While I think the current political meme that "if we treat our POWs according to the GCs the enemy will do likewise" is about as strawman as it gets, I believe we should limit our coercion methods to what's allowed under the GCs simply because we're the United States of America. That said, I do not take from Johah's article your perceptions. He admits that there is a line that must be drawn, and where that line is should be decided through reasoned discourse so that there are definite limits. But I must agree with GW above that "psychic discomfort" and "physical inconvenience" of moderate intensity and duration do not fall under the rubric of "torture" except as it's currently being tossed around on the left.

I WOULDN'T WISH IT ON MY WORST ENEMY

I, as well, detest KO. I've gone at him too on my blog of little note. But enough is enough. If you believe at all in the right of free speech and non-censorship of what's protected thereunder, then Olbermann gets his turn in the sun without a threat to his well-being. And shame on the commenters who feel he had this coming. If we stand for anything, then it's the right to express the universally ahbored opinion (remember, guys?) along with the welcomed. Let's not resort to such tactics or condone same. We stand in the breach against terrorists that would deny us this right, while the leftist synchophants to Dhimmitude seem oblivious to that simple fact. We are better than that.

DECLASSIFIED NIE LEAVES UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

Cheers to Dale in Atlanta for one of the best perspectives on Muslim history in the context of today's events that I've read. Hope you made it to your day job. The NIE speaks for itself, with some consideration that the 16-agency effort probably could not avoid the influence of institutional biases in this agency versus that. But liberal spin is the coin of the moonbat realm, and whatever out-of-context advantage the left can manufacture, trust they will do it. Whatever picture the NIE paints in whole we'll not see if the left is left to its own devices. Read it for yourself and make up your own mind in the cold, clear unspun light of day.

QUICK THOUGHTS ON P29/11

As far as the scene at UBL's camp, I'll say it again that ABC should have been as accurate as possible about the closest the Clinton Admin. got to him to carry the gist of the 9/11 report. No more, no less. If we're going to expect truth out of the leftards (which is alot to expect but not too much to ask), then we need to insist on the same ourselves. The major point is the true depiction of what we're up against from AQ -- no policy at issue, but rather univeral hatred of all things non-Muslim.

CARTER PROVES EXISTENCE OF A MERCIFUL GOD

When you're a useless idiot, the only seemingly better alternative you have, since you're always going to be an idiot, is to be a useful idiot. You can bet you're Nobel Prize on that. What a f**cking joke.

THE CITY OF BIG SHOULDERS AND TINY BRAINS

The Chamber of Commerce is right. The ordinance is unconstitutional, plain and simple. And big labor could give a damn about non-union workers -- that's what this is all about.

HOWARD DEAN IS A TWO-FACED LYING WEASEL

Screamin' Deano: "He's always talking bout those people. .... Americans are sick of that. Even if you win elections doing that, you drag our country."

As you point out Rick, those people he supposedly talks about do not include gays, immigrants, and I don't know if I've ever heard him specifically single out "Hollywood people" for criticism. So that leaves "liberals" in general and "Democrats" in particular. And, if that's winning elections, then evidently not enough "Americans are sick of that" to disbelieve that liberals and Democrats are not the problem. Of course, as Demo campaign loser Donna Brazile was told when she said Al Gore's near 2000 victory shows "the proof's in the pudding" -- "No, the truth's in the White House" (and in both houses of Congress and on the Supreme Court, for that matter). Dr. Dean needs to diagnose his on diarrhea of the mouth.

PLEASE ELIMINATE THE WORD "ELIMINATIONIST"...AND THOSE WHO USE THE TERM

Man, RM, it is truly impressive the way David Neiwert (I hope that's spelled right) put you in your little place. That's what's so endearing about liberals. It doesn't matter what your level of intelligence or how many sheepskins you have on the wall, if you dare disagree with them, that hauty condescension just comes on down in a sneering snit that only a lefist can accomplish. You're not merely wrong, you are a stoopid drewling paste eater. Definition of "eliminationist"? -- A liberal with his fingers in his ears yammering "la la la" when a rational counter to an argument is raised by a conservative.

THE SH*TSTORM OVER THE WORD "SH*T"

It just never fails that when the current president behaves in an less than respectable manner then once again our first Native American president Bill "Dances with Whores" Clinton gets drug through the sh*t all over again. What's the frequency, Kenneth? Make it stop, lordy, make it stop.
