DO THEY STILL TEACH PATRIOTIC SONGS TO KIDS?

Just reading this post almost brought tears to my eyes. "YANKEE DOODLE DANDY" is one of my favorite movies. I look for it on TV every 4th of July. As a military brat, I also was raised on patriotic songs and a deep pride and love for this country. Every evening around 4 or 5, there would be a flag lowering ceremony on the base where we were living at the time. All foot and motorized traffic, and outdoor activities would cease. Folks would automatically stop what they were doing, turn to face the flags' location, and come to attention if active duty, and stand respectfully still if civilan. I remember singing patriotic songs like "This Land is Your Land", and "Yankee Doodle" and "The Battle of New Orleans" and "Home on the Range" and "Over There!" both at home and in school. I don't beleive the younger generations are taught to revere our country, and to recognize it's unique exceptionalism anymore. Probably just the opposite. Thanks for this post. God Bless America!

END OF AN ERA? FALWELL PASSES

What a nice post Rick. Your kind, fair and honorable treatment of Rev. Falwell shows how much class you really have. And I believe he was a man of genuine faith, and a true lover of America. Millions of Americans believe the same way as Rev. Falwell, so thanks for not being scornful or mean spirited.

I don't believe the Reverend had immoral views. On the contrary, his views seemed mainly in line with what the Bible teaches. He may have had a few "foot in mouth" moments, but I don't believe for a minute that it came out of malice.

You're a great writer Rick, and it's a pleasure to come and learn with you each day, whether I agree with you or not. Phooey on those whoe are leaving! I'll pledge more support, and I'm sure others will also. Hurrah for Rick!

ARE WE DAYS AWAY FROM WAR WITH IRAN?

Hey #10: Your BDS is in full bloom and not helpful to anyone, especially yourself. Whatever George Bush is, he has certainly shown more character than you have. Your kind of hatefulness and arrogance ALWAYS comes back to hurt oneself. You had better watch out!

JUST LIKE RIDING A BICYCLE

When you think about all the terrorist cells and groups that have been routed out and dug up in America since 911, it's a surprise that we haven't been hit big by them yet. (I may be a little paranoid, but any time I hear about trouble with a bridge, or an electric plant, or a city water/trash/waste system, I think that it could be a terrorist testing the system, and trying to kill us with a thousand little cuts). There were the folks in Seattle. The Lakawana 7 in NY. There's been a couple busted up in California. There was one in Cleveland. There was the one in the Miami area. How many more are out there just waiting? This enemy is a shadowy shifty evil bunch, and this war will be fought for a long time.

GOODBYE TO ALL THAT: BOLTON ERA AT UN IS OVER

Here lately,it seems like the pro "strong-America" side of this world has been losing ground. To have to lose such a fierce advocate for the country that Bolton was while working at the UN is a danger to America, and makes my contempt for Senate Republicans grow even more. I'm afraid we're in for some very unpleasant and unsafe times ahead. We need another Ronald Reagan.

On 8/16, Siniora was on FOX TV and stated that the war was started by America and Istael because they knew that Lebanon was starting to get back on it's feet, and we couldn't stand it. So we started a war. He also refused to condemn Hezbollah rockets being fired at civilans in Isael. On 10/17, the Jerusalem Post reported that Siniora stated that Lebanon would be the LAST country to sign a peace pact with Israel. Great neighbors, huh? I have no sympathy for that anti-semite, and am getting so tired of having to worry about my own security because of the civil unrest and slide into chaos in another Arab/Muslim country. And to think that millions of tax dollars will go to help rebuild Lebanon. I know we probably HAVE to help them, but i think it will be a waste. The won't quit hating.

INSULTING THE EXPLOITED

Hey Rick, I think you have gone off the deep end over this and need to come down off your moral high horse!(Gulp, I can't believe I wrote that). Did you listen to the recording of Rush making this statement? He had never seen Fox like that, and speculated tht Fox was either acting(his profession), or off his meds. His staff then informed him that they had seen Fox like that before, so Limbaugh apologized. As it turns out, Fox himself said that he manipulated his meds to exaggerate his symptoms so as to influence other people. Fox is a big boy who knew exactly what he was doing when he chose to use his disease to campaign for Democrats. Just because he has an illness he is not immune to speculation or criticism. Why isn't the Limbaugh apology good enough? I think thaat the MSM is going overboard on this to hurt Republicans. And then there's the subject of the accuracy and honesty of the ad. There's certainly room for critism and a debunking there, although you won't hear anything about that in the MSM. This reminds me of how I thought you over-reacted to the Olberman fake anthrazx scare. I like to think I'm a caring compassionate person, but I sure don't see it your way.
