SHOULD THE PRESIDENT DECLINE THE PEACE PRIZE?

I'm a huge supporter of Obama, but I think the Nobel committee is trying to influence Obama's future actions, which is kind of manipulative. Remember there was a drone attack in Pakistan on his Inauguration Day that killed some civilians that he ok'd. I remember thinking wow he has already killed children on his first day. American Presidents should really have to earn a Nobel.

According to the Huffpo piece I linked in the update, that would appear to be the intent of the Nobel committee - reward him for future good behavior.

'SILENCE EQUALS ASSENT:' WHY POINTING OUT CONSERVATIVE LUNACY MUST BE DONE

What is there to fear about Obama and the Democrats? Nothing that cannot be stopped by the application of reason and rationality. I think it will take more than that. Professional demagogues wielding the right slogans and catchwords reverberating incessantly through a one-sided media ought to win the election. That and overwhelming financial backing.

Obama wishes to put us under an authoritative government bureaucracy so effective as to control nearly every aspect of our lives. Liberty is simply to be squeezed out. Compliance will be enforced by fines, penalties and taxation. It will costs us dearly. Call it what you will, does it really matter?

WHY IS THE PRESIDENT GOING TO COPENHAGEN TO LOBBY FOR THE OLYMPICS?

Too bad he doesn't have some brush to clear out for the weekend.... or maybe he could go to that bastion of civility and the place that represents "middle american values" so well....Belleville, IL.

DEBATE OVER TEA PARTY PROTEST NUMBERS MASKS THE REAL HISTORY MADE

I was very skeptical of the Tea Party stuff when it first started. But you know what? Good for them for getting involved. I volunteered for Obama and it felt good to get involved. If we can all tone down the anger we might actually have a good dialog about these super-important issues facing the country.

So your point is that this movement is primarily an emotional reaction (reactionary?) to the last election? Thus it is basically non-rational? Must be why Charles Johnson seems to be disgusted with it. But Little Green Footballs seems to be on any true conservative's shit list now as can be seen in comment #1. If Charles Johnson is to be purged, how far behind are you Rick?

MY PROBLEM WITH 'FALSE' EQUIVALENCE

I just want to add that it is interesting to see others comment that they like both this site and Balloon Juice. I do to!

HOLY CHRIST! WHERE HAS JOE KLEIN BEEN THE LAST 8 YEARS?

The title of the next article on this site:

"Some of my best friends are knee-grows"

And your point? Or are you just throwing shit against the wall to see if anything stinks?

I am used to liberals simply halting debate and tossing allegations of racism or fascism because they are too stupid to engage on the issues. Thank you for confirming my thesis in such spectacularly ignorant fashion.

HEALTH CARE REFORM 'ENDGAME' AFOOT?

If you watch cable news at all, you've seen the ads for “health care reform”, now being called “health insurance reform”. “It is an interesting subtle switch in language”. Mike Oliphant runs a small Utah health insurance website http://www.dentalinsuranceutah.net whom deals with people day to day struggling to find affordable coverage. “I think it’s important to not understate the huge difference in meaning between “health insurance reform” and “health care reform”. Let’s not lose focus on the need to reform a broken health care system which includes not only health insurance carriers but also billing practices of medical providers. Why isn’t TORT reform part of the national discussion? Studies show that alone could lower costs by 15% for both the medical professionals and health insurance carriers (Humana). Perhaps the federal government should take notice of what Utah has accomplished with first step of health insurance reform and promises for reform in the medical provider arena. Several interesting changes took place with the passage of H.B. 188. House Speaker Clark has championed the need for change while recognizing the experience of the private health insurance sector. ANGRY IDEOLOGUES vs. THE STATISTS

"I have resisted using terms like “socialist” and especially “communist” to describe the Democrat’s ideology..."

That is one of the reasons I like to read your blog. It's possible to passionately disagree and still enjoy the process! It's an education.
