"DAY OF RAGE?" WHAT NEW.

I agree with the Ancoress when she says “It’s getting more than a little tiresome”. I understand that radical elements use the Arab media to great effect, but I believe the Western media also enables these histrionics. We cannot coordinate a response to events like the Day of Rage, but if we could I suggest a paraphrase of Oprah: If you want the civilized world to think you are peaceful and nonviolent, PUT ON YOUR BIG-BOY PANTS AND ACT LIKE IT!.

JACQUES GOES THE WEASEL

The other day on your W.A.R. broadcast, you said that you disallow profanity on your website. I see this rule does not apply to comments on French attitudes or behavior. That's okay with me: sometimes truth and accuracy must trump strict policies of decency.

9/10: A DEFINITIONAL DAY FOR THE LEFT

Most agree, the period of our safekeeping since 9/11 was the result of a successful global offensive against terrorism. But I wonder how many agree this action is sustainable. A successful global offensive requires 1) committed allies, and 2) support for the cause by a majority of people at home. Regarding allies, two portentous events occurred in the past week: Pakistan announced the withdrawal of troops from its western border regions, and Tony Blair announced his pending retirement. Pakistan and Britain may therefore soon go the way of Spain and others. Regarding the home front, we hear the election in November is a referendum on the war that will sweep control of the House and possibly the Senate to the Democrats. It appears the character of the GWOT may be changing from a global-offensive to a local-defensive conflict. If so, we may see how effectively the Democrats’ law-and-order approach continues our protection.

LICENSE TO KILL

Rick: You state “There is absolutely no comparison between the Reagan show and this.”

Do you mean by this the following? Docudramas must construct dialogue that perhaps never actually took place but that still communicates a state of existing facts, opinions, or policy. The difference is therefore that the current drama accurately conveys such things as Clinton’s view that terrorism should be treated as a law-enforcement matter, but the Reagan drama inaccurately portrayed Reagan as a homophobe, etc. Or am I missing other points?

Also, I don’t see the Democrat’s threat to ABC’s broadcasting license as terribly serious. To me, a subtle left-wing campaign to silence talk radio is what we should be looking out for.

"TERROR IN THE SKIES" A FEINT?

Perhaps a point beside the point, but I found the Mansfield citation interesting. I recall that Yassar Arafat used a P.R. tactic in which he would say one thing in English for the benefit of the foreign press and quite another in Arabic for home consumption. Mansfield’s experience in the Georgia mosque suggests that perhaps some Muslim leaders in this country might be doing the same. As the forced religious conversion of the Fox News reporters challenges the Christian conscience, so might some Muslim leaders here (perhaps under the cover of Arabic) be challenging their followers to ponder whether they are Muslims first and Americans second, or vice versa.

I realize this all sounds like a conspiracy theory, but I am not promoting one by any means. Nonetheless, Khalid’s boasts (in Arabic) about the “cowardly” reaction of the American passengers worries me about some larger questions. My apologies to the peaceful Muslim community, but please ponder the issue.

FOR LOVE OF JUSTICE

Rick,

I can't speak for the silence of the entire conservative wilderness, but
I can for myself. The problem for me has been information (and
misinformation and propaganda) overload. Organizations like Amnesty
International and the Red Cross should be pressing this issue, and the
political opposition in this country could effect some positive action.
The problem is when I hear these voices, they speak time and again
likening Gitmo to the Soviet Gulag, or comparing our military guard at
Gitmo to Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot, or lamenting the regular practice
of torture methods (like sleep deprivation). As soon as I hear someone
announce "Today a spokesman for Amnesty International (or Dick Durbin,
or Carl Levin, or whoever) said that ... ," I promptly quit listening.

I believe most Americans want to do the right thing in this regard. But rants and slogans don't help me. Posts like this one (that attempt to
lay out facts and suggest courses of action based on a sense of justice)
do help me. Thank you.

SAVE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE!

Second, in any direct national election there would be significant election-fraud concerns. In the 2000 Bush-Gore race, Mr. Gore’s 540,000-vote margin amounted to 3.1 votes in each of the country’s 175,000 precincts. “Finding” three votes per precinct in urban areas is not a difficult thing

HAHAHAHA. You're right. It was GORE who stole the election of 2000!

FAIR IS FAIR: IDF BRINGS SHAME TO ITSELF

You're absolutely right. A travesty. Next time, shoot them immediately.

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

To suggest that someone is enjoying the death of their spouse is horrible. Does she honestly think that Jesus would approve of such a statement?
