THE INCREDIBLY STUPID THOUGHTS OF DEEPAK CHOPRA

Sixpack Sofa, Oprah, Bill Clinton, and Obama are not idiots -- they're con-men. They possess the con's genius for intuiting sentimental weak spots. Every single one of them would make brilliant plantiff injury attorneys.

CHICKEN OR THE EGG?

In about 4 hours my house will be reveling in Thanksgiving. Participants will include mostly Christians, 2 atheists, a Jew, and a Muslim. The only people who won't fit in are those who can't "stomach" other people because of their religious beliefs.

They'll be down the road in a fully-tenured professor's house.

...you’d get a migration of people like me who share a great deal of the fundamentals of conservative ideology, but simply can’t stomach the other baggage.

In other words, people willing to sacrifice the "fundamentals of conservative ideology" because of an intolerance of intellectual diversity. Like academics following the truth wherever it leads, as long as it stays on paved roads.

REDEMPTION: THE GOOD, THE BAD, THE FAMILIAR

Let me rock your world--I'd never watched "24" until last night.

There, I said it.

I only watched because of your previous post mulling over whether it would be any good.

My wife and I were stunned at how good it was. We don't watch much TV, for a variety of reasons, and so we may be out of touch with how things have changed in the last 10 years, but as the wife said, "Wow. That was like a theater movie."

But I really think Sean Penn would have been a better UN worker. ;-)

OOGEDY-BOOGEDY AND BIBBIDI, BOBBIDI, BOO

I too, have pointed out that the Republican party is now identified not as the party of fiscal conservatism (How could it be?) but as the party of anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage.

There's the signpost pointing the way out of the wilderness. It's a matter of emphasis.

You need all the instruments to create a symphony, and selected ones to carry the theme.
