LIBERAL AUTHORITARIANISM AND EARTH HOUR

After the last 2 winters in Wisconsin I no longer believe in global warming. I would like to get away from burning oil because the countries that produce it are mostly our enemies. Lets get more solar and wind energy going producing good manufacturing jobs in the process. As far as rightwingers losing their minds about people who believe in global warming, to me its another excuse for radical conservatives to pile on anything they see as Democrat or liberal. After getting their asses handed to them the last 2 elections I understand their anger and bitterness. They'll stay in the minority for a long time with their rigid ideology.

OBAMA HASN'T SHEATHED HIS SWORD OF FEAR QUITE YET

Sounds like the centrists Democratic senators have influenced Obama to tamp down his spending on the budget, which was a good thing. He's only been on the job for 65 days, under dire straights, he's learning. We'll all be fine, just a little patience is needed. I won't judge him until a year is up.

IS OUR NATIONAL WILL 'WILTING AWAY?'

great non-partisan article Rick. You hit all the key points and didn't try to point fingers at anyone.I have yet to meet an American that doesn't want to destroy Al Queda, Breitbart raises the "strawman" on that one. Again, thanks for a great read.

I HAVE COME NOT TO PRAISE CAPITALISM BUT TO BURY IT

Greedy capitalist kept on taking a bigger piece of the pie, while real wages for someone in the middle class like me has seen their wages stagnant since 1970. CEO's making 300 times what the guy on the line made. Credit default swaps bs is a crime! We are turning into a country like Mexico, no middle class will be left because of the greedy fat cats. I don't want caps on executive salaries either, but if these pigs can't control themselves at the trough, something has to be done. And by the way, federal employees should have a wage price freeze until we come out of this recession. And Nessus, its nutballs like you that give decent conservatives a bad name. Go on over to worldnetdaily where the other loons reside.

IS AIG BLACKMAILING THE GOVERNMENT OVER BONUSES?

Jane Hamsher gets taken to the woodshed for what she wrote, how is she even slightly relevant in this AIG mess? What, AIG misbehaved but that nasty leftist Hamsher must be dealt with? Get a grip Rick.

BRING BACK THE STOCKS!

Does anyone here wonder why it was the gop was voted out of power? If Obama fails his party will get a whipping in 2010 and Caribou Barbie will be president in 2012. But for right now we Democrats control everything and we will govern the way we see fit. Obama isn't to blame for AIG's blunders, that was laid on his lap. Bush left us in a mess, so the gop can either help right the country or stfu.

Senator Dodd didn't write those bonuses into law. Thats rightwing spin, someone show me the PROOF. Theres enough blame to go around for this mess, lies about Dodd don't help anything. I say let AIG fail, or be broken up.

HOW RADICAL IS BARACK OBAMA?

Rick, what bsjones said. And there are times I wonder what planet you are on.

People don't get it, most Democrats like myself that voted for Obama are centrists, not radical liberals. Why can't the right get that thru their heads? We root for the Packers, drink beer, love meat and hunting, believe in God, work hard get along. Were all not tree huggers and pacifists. Yes, we vote Democratic, we realize what a fiasco the war in Iraq was. Unregulated free market capitalism doesn't work. That doesn't make me a commie. Isn't there something in the middle? Bring our jobs back from China, bring our troops home from Germany, regulate Wall Street, hello SEC. I like Obama but he needs to stay more centrists, but the right needs to quit crying socialism.

I have not in the past nor do I in this post accuse Obama of socialism. He is, however, offering up a radical agenda in the way he is seeking to implement it.

btw - the idea that we had "unregulatetd free market capitalism" is so goofy it makes me wonder what planet you're from. The strait jacket government has wall street and the investment community in is a proximate cause of the mess we're in. If markets were unregulated, those risky derivatives and COD's would never have been possible. What made them possible was a change to the Banking Act in 1999 (not community reinvestment act) that allowed brokerage firms to become banks.

That's your government regulation for you.

THE CARTERIZATION OF OBAMA

51 days in and he's already Jimmy Carter? Thanks Rick for actually giving him a chance in a country Bush drove off a cliff. Your party is out of power because they have no new ideas and all they know how to do is attack. We don't need the gop or dittoheads to take back this country. You guys broke it and howl after 51 days that Obama hasn't fixed it. The adults are in charge now, the rightwing attack machine can't spew out enough crap to satisfy itself. Our side just ignores enemies that don't want to help the country because their ideology gets in the way....so be it
