Wingnuts are obsessed when Obama does ANYTHING. They should just zip it because we had 8 years of their boy king, and he was a disaster. The Iraq war costs us 10 billion a month, hows that for wasting money? Whats with the pudgyness of gop speakers? Newt, Rush, Bill Benett, Dick Moriss. Just seems like overpaid, overfed guys that wouldn't know what an honest days work would look like.Why should I listen to guys that can't keep their own bodies in check?Appearances tell a lot about people's motivation and their drive. Newt needs to show me he can push himself away from the dinner table before I take his words seriously.

And your right, their litmus test morphs so much you almost need a daily update. Yet the gop seems oblivious to whats happening. They seriously are in a death spiral.

People like Freedoms Truth control the gop today, thats why they are in trouble. Because to them, nothing is wrong with the party, they will not tolerate any critique of the party (Rick) and they seem not to notice the party shrinking. Wall Street and the banks were completely out of control, wheres the vitriol on the hard right for that fact?Obama tries to rein in the mess and gets branded a leftist. Fine. The only argument I can win nowadays with my conservative friends is that my Democratic Party will continue to win big elections. No, were far from being perfect as far as political parties go, but compared with the modern day gop, we are lightyears ahead imho.

good article Rick,as a loyal Democrat I still feel bad that you've been freezed out from your party.Its so ironic because today Rush said moderates had no true beliefs and conservatives didn't want moderates or independents in the party. The gop is probably more open than the Demos?I split a gut on that one. My party has always been open, its the gop that has a litmus test and a guy named Rush who is the Enforcer. Democrats disagree with each other all the time, its the gop that is rigid in its ideology. We are big tent, the gop is the rapidly shrinking tent. I swear the neocon wing of the gop lives in an alternate universe. I read your article Rick, you were spot on. Keep standing for what you believe in,even if your on the opposite side of the political spectrum as me.

Sorry, but too many hardcore conservatives on this thread defending Bushco policies that got us into the mess were in now. The rich kept swallowing up most of the economic gains made in the early 2000's. Middle class stiffs like myself kept finding it harder and harder to make ends meet. Call it class warfare if you want, it is what it is. The Limbaugh wing defended the fiasco in Iraq, and accused me of being unpatriotic because I didn't support it. Oil companies raped us at the pump, while Bushco looked the other way. The Limbaugh wing tears down Obama because they know how popular he is and Rushbo knows how much smarter Obama is than the gop leaders. The adults are back in charge. It'll take a few years but the ship will be righted.
