MY ADVICE: BUY A HORSE, INVEST IN BUGGY WHIP COMPANIES

You can pry my supercharged V8 from my cold, dead hands.

I laugh maniacally as I roar past hybrids or other inferior smaller displacement cars on the way to work.

My gas mileage is "not applicable", and I probably emit more CO2 than several other cars put together.

Do I care? No. I'm going to enjoy this for as long as we have oil.

NO JOY IN MUDVILLE

don't count your chickens before they hatch. Mitchell is director of the Red Sox organization and this report is biased. The evidence he has against Clemens is a washed up trainer pointed his finger at him. Its unfair to throw him to the wolves before he's had a chance to defend himself.

STOP THE HUCKABOOM

I've been telling folks that my distrust of Clinton runs so deep that if she's nominated, I'll do something I last did in 1984--vote for a Republican. However, Huckabee would convince me to vote for Clinton.

9/11 TRUTHERS GUT PUNCHED BY HISTORY CHANNEL

If anything this sorry excuse of a "documentary" that the Hysterical channel broadcast last night will only help the 9/11 movement.

Imagine all the people who will actually take the time now to watch Loose Change... Thank you History Chanel! I'd say your little plan will backfire big time!

O'REILLY AND GERALDO LOSE IT ON AIR

Speaking as someone who has investigated emigrating to the USA - The policies don't make sense to me.

From what I can understand you have an issue of large numbers of illegal immigrants, with no strong willed action either way from government on what they want to do about it, and yet at the same time, people who are willing to go through the work of meeting all the requirements and are highly skilled and experienced, have a lot of hoops put up for them to jump through. I could understand if I was coming from a country that has, shall we say, issues with the US at the moment - I hardly think New Zealand is a hotbed of terrorism though :)

Nevertheless, I am still working moving to the USA, and becoming an American citizen.
Sorry for going off-topic for a bit.

LA TIMES OFFERS MORE PROOF WHY NO ONE BOTHERS TO READ IT ANYMORE

Rick,

Thanks. I don't normally nitpick about things like that, but that word has driven me crazy for years. Interestingly, while it may appear in online dictionaries, it has never found its way into a paper-based version of Webster's - at least not as far as I know.

Rick,

I visit your site frequently and read much of what you write with interest. Much to my dismay, however, today I was reading this post, and ran across the word "irregardless" as in "Irregardless of whether he’s a liberal or conservative, Professor Morici is an oft-quoted economist because..."

There's no such word, and it detracts from a well-written entry. Please fix it...

Thanks!

James

ANN COULTER: CONSERVATIVE LOUT

Only in America would a hack like Coulter be given a public platform to voice her anger and hate towards a group of people simply because they represent lateral thought - something that the U.S.A. needs right now.
Why is she even allowed to publish books? To me she is like a spoiled, angry child - and I often wonder if she just does it to sell books. Either way, she nauseates me.

THE HYSTERICAL DRAMA QUEENS OF THE LEFT

This is just basic overkill. While the NSA may be correct in assuming that there would be a pattern to calling. The same pattern of calling would also be apparent in a closenit family. And before you arrogant snots say that would be crossrefenced to show that those calling parties are related. Imagine parents with 6 daughters, all married. Tax dollars wasted to reveal that they are related after their homes were invaded by Feds for matching the calling patterns of a suspected terrorist cell.

What bothers be most is that the CIA will probably end up being run by the Agency Wonk that failed to protect us from a terrorist attack in the first place back on 9-11. Blame is so often attributed to the CIA once the terrorists arrived within the borders, but the NSA failed to prevent them getting here in the first place.

In the real world most of these dorks would have been out on their asses looking for a job. This administration is the only place you ever see someone testify before Congress that they failed miserably at their job which resulted in thousands dead and then go back to work with not ever a smack on the wrist.

I guess it comes with 'who you know' rather than 'what you know'.
