RON PAUL: PANDERER TO THE PARANOID?
For someone who stands almost no chance of getting elected he sure gets your goat.

Rick, the moral certitude you talk about doesn't exist- on this planet or any other.

For example- wasn't that Mr. Bush I just saw meeting with Sunni Chieftains you know, the guys who were killing our boys just scant weeks ago? They were terorists then. Shouldn't we pack them off to Gitmo?
Secondly- are you familiar with the Luis Carillo case? The man was convicted of blowing a Cuban airliner out of the sky. He's wanted in both Cuba and Venezuela yet he's walking around free in this country (which he entered illegally) because we refuse to extradite him. I guess one man's 'terrorist' really is another's 'freedom fighter'.
The only 'certainty' in the right wing's moral certitude is that it will reflect whatever's coming from a Republican White House on any given day (with the notable exception of its views on immigration).

How many American lives do you think Lebanon is worth?

Next year will mark 50 years since we first sent troops in there, and the country is still a mess.
DEMOCRATS CAN'T FIND ANYONE TO HELP THEM SURRENDER
"Some are grumbling about Bush “kicking the can down the road†so that withdrawal will be up to his predecessor."
I think he's setting the Dems up for the '08 election. If they campaign on a 'get out now' theme and are elected to the White House, Republicans will be able to blame everything bad that happens afterwards on them; whether it's connected or not.

Talk about cynical!
IS WAR WITH IRAN NOW JUST A MATTER OF TIME?
I'm curious as to what authority Bush could use to attack Iran. Clinton and other presidents have done it as well, but it would be nice if just once, we could actually get a declaration of war first.

Having said that, better be prepared to invade and occupy 'cause just bombing them will cause them to rally 'round the flag. And how do we get back the dozen or so pilots they're bound to capture?

Let's just say that if they want to kill themselves I'm not going to pretend to shed crocodile tears over it. They aren't worth a single American life.
The way out is for independents and moderate republicans to force Bush to end this thing.

I suspect you're going to see a lot of nervous Republicans in January when the 'blush' the surge has brought wears off.

Any comparisons with our occupation of S. Korea go out the window when the people we're supposedly protecting start killing our troops.
Good post Rick. This war's certainly been fought 'on the cheap'. Not enough troops, good leadership and yes, truth.

ATTACK ON PETREAUS A SURE SIGN OF DESPERATION
I respect Gen. Petraeus but let's face it, his message ("some progress...need more time") is exactly what we've been hearing for four years. I have no doubt that, four years from now we'll still be on the 'verge' of victory. We seem to be trying to make the proverbial silk purse from the sow's ear.
