IS OUR NATIONAL WILL 'WILTING AWAY?'
The only patriots I encounter these days are "good ole boys" here in Virginia - and when I refer to the coastal critters, I'm referring to New York, California, State of Washington, sometimes Oregon and The District! I do know one thing for sure: most of the people I know are prepared to defend themselves with vigor from any attempt by anyone to abrogate our rights as citizens. That resistance and protest is now taking place as "tea parties" around the country.

I refuse to surrender my faith in the American people - not the coastal craven critters but the ones in the South and the middle - all the "flyover country" people. I live in Virginia and we're quickly departing our wimpish sojourn and remembering that we are Americans first and Republicans/Democrats second. If you don't have the one, you'll not be able to maintain the other!
I'm pretty much ready for whatever comes in the next few years - and I'm hoping that my readiness is unnecessary. We have the opportunity to vote the s.o.b.s out in 2010 - and it's high time we started working on that little old project!

Before you go any further with some of your misconceptions, perhaps you need to listen to Shep Smith's rant from yesterday on Fox News. Everyone KNEW that these bonuses were going to be paid and all the outrage is pure posturing on the part of the Congress and the Administration. A bunch of dishonest and completely cynical liars - the lot of them!

Meanwhile, if all you people who SAW what a disaster this infantile naif was going to be before he was inaugurated would get up off your lazy duffs, and start finding and grooming viable Congressional candidates to run against the venal and despicable crew currently squatting in office less than 2 years hence, we could at least contain some of the damage.
I've actually, despite my distaste for party politics, started being active in my local Republican organization. I will endure the tedium and juvenile jockeying for preferment if it will help me identify someone who can do a decent job of reining in the sophomoric crowd current DISgracing The White House!

Newt is, absolutely, a brilliant conceptualizer and theoretician. He is wholly impractical as an actual executor of plans. Better he remains the eminence grise behind someone who has exceptional executive qualities - someone like Michael Steele or Sarah Palin - who can find a way to make Newt's concepts a reality.
And to the people who say Newt has too much baggage, that is absolutely spot on!

When I think about the absolutely merciless POUNDING this good man has endured at the hands of the leftwingnut crowd for the past 7+ years, he should be cut miles of slack by everyone. And the unintended consequences of the huge economic slowdown is that those who wish us ill are affected far more than are we! Chavez is running out of money, as is that flaming nutbar Ahmadinejad! Even Putin is going to have to scale back on his maniacal desire to bring back the USSR - his oil revenues are in the toilet right now!
