'LET US SIT UPON THE GROUND AND TELL SAD STORIES OF THE DEATH OF KINGS'
The world reaction to the Obama nomination should be a message that he could be the best thing to happen to American foreign policy in a very long time. The fact that a major party will nominate an African American (who is really as much white as he is black) man indicates to the world that the US is a diverse nation ready to embrace a diverse world. Yes, win or lose, there is a new day in America.
This is about "content of his character," not his race, and the fact that he is being nominated by the Democratic Party speaks loudly that a lot of Americans are ready to practice what Martin L. King, Jr. preached.

GAming "the system" is scurrilous no matter if it's Kos or Rush promoting it. The "system," in this case, is our sacred constitutional duty and right to vote our conscience. Those who toy with it so cavalierly are shameful opportunists -- and are disrespecting our single common heritage -- the constitution.
IN the end, whether dems or GOP folks win in November, it will be phyrric in nature having knocked one more brick out from the things that makes us great.

The thought of two more years of quagmire in Iraq, two more years of out-of-sight deficits and national debt, two more years a prescription drug plan designed to benefit drug and insurance companies and does nothing to hold down the price of drugs, two more years of family values hypocrisy of the Foley variety, two more years of jeopardy to constitutional government in the United States by a president who apparently believes he is above the law, two more years of a Republican majority that believes in torture add up to the real possibility that the Democrats will win back the House and balance the excesses of the Bush administration and its minions
