On a related note to the socialist state. I visited Japan earlier this year. Had been stationed there many years but had not been there since '93. It was very sad to see how rough life has gotten for the people there. Health care and retirement are in dire straits. I worry that is a crystal ball for what may lie in store for the US.

If Obama wins he puts in SCJs who will outlive me by a long shot. The irony of the bailout is that it restrains just how much spending he can do unless he cuts the mil budget significantly.
How much he really reshapes us into a socialist state remains to be seen. If he goes two terms... yes we are well on our way.

I think you are pretty much on target in this post. I don't think Obama really believes what Wright is preaching.
I do think that the reactions about it bode badly for him in a general election. There are many whites who probably waiting for a fairly strong reason not to vote for him and this will be what they need.I had some real hopes for Obama not because he is black or white but because he is mixed as my kids are. If you want to find a person who really understands the state of race in our country talk to someone raised in an interracial home.

I wanted Obama to be the "I am not white or black but an American first, steeped in the positive influences of two cultures..." candidate.
Alas... it is not to be with him. Like you said - he is a politician.

The Republicans need to be careful how much they hoot and holler in joy at this story. At this point it appears that Hillary and Obama stand a good chance of causing the Dems to lose because of the acrimony. Throw the race factor in and the Dems will surely paint the cause on the GOP -- all it takes is a few quotes/audio clips from Rush, Ann, and it will spun in a way that makes the hooplah over his minister seem to be a GOP thing. Dems unite for common good and McCain gets beaten...
More people need to try to learn from your (most of the time ;)) objectivity.

I'm not trying to be a smart alec but I thought I saw Terry interviewing him about Rezko. He was kind of evasive. It was on Good Morning America (this morning I think).
Terry did a good job of staying on point but Obama was slippery in his answers.

I saw some talking head this morning discussing this and they seemed to think that it is a good move but more due to the likelihood that McCain can get more 527's financed that attack Obama.

No proof of the assertion - just an observation they made.
Nice write up but I'll believe it when I see it. On a somewhat related note it will be interesting to see how the right wing talk radio adjusts to a more civil atmosphere that existed before the Clintons tromped onto the stage.
