Charles the spelling of Reagun was quite deliberate. It's how he was seen. Star wars will never work at least in it's current design, can not will not but hell go ahead and throw dollars at it. As for the myth that your man brought down the soviet union, if it keeps you warm inside to think so, go ahead but there were a hell of a lot of other factors and players that had more impact (remember a little figure like gorbachev?) . Let's face it charley boy, you liked Reagan because he made you feel like you were in the shadown and under the protection of the school yard bully. Bullies have an unfortunate habit of doing deals with other bullies and it's a pity it cost you the respect a great country like America deserves.

Ronald Reagun certainly seemed happy enough wasting millions of your dollars on imaginary missile defence programs which still came to nothing. His foreign policy seemed to be a total mess too, look at the support given to despicable south and central american regimes because they were nominally anti communist.

of course not every one who opposes this government is rascist but some very prominent rightwing voices are and are benefitting from gathering fellow travellers. Just a few off the top of my head: A certain conservative lesbian admiringly published a post calling Obama's mother disgusting things because "any white woman who went out with a black man in that period was a whore", the young republicans just elected a woman leader who thinks that making jokes about running blacks out of town at sundown is just dandy,almost all of the mouth breathing radio thugs like Beck have made comments about Obamas wife that they would never have made about Bush's wife (no I wont repeat them). etc Leaving aside the morality of being seen to profit from these retrograde attitudes the republicans can NOT get elected if they remain the party of white rage in the rest of the populations mind.

Jeebus h christ are you people soo bloody stupid? I have lived in one of the MAJORITY of civilised countries with a government health system and it works! We have a mixture of private companies underpined by a government safety net. There is much less rationing than in your system, if you need an expensive treatment you get it. However if the generic drug is as good as a branded drug, the company has to prove an increased benefit to get subsidy. It is still sold but you will have to pay the difference unless you are a pensioner or poor. That is the only rationing, wow scary stuff. Any moron who listens to Palin for their advice on policy deserves what they get. Go ahead continue to provide the worst quality of life for some of the greatest cost. If palin really cared about babies as more than just political props she would put some energy into proposing a solution to your huge maternal and child death rate.

one thing all you pro private insurance commentators seem to be forgetting is 1.the amount of money lost to the private industry through commercial requirements and inefficiencies (eg advertising, marketting/bribes to doctors, dividends, executive packages etc) and 2. private companies ration medicine and treatments in opaque ways like denying cover for "pre-existing" conditions or pushing people out of hospital quickly.
I live in a country with the evil communistic medicine and rationing has not been a problem, I pay 1.5% of my gross income in tax, my GP decides what treatment I need and I receive it. When I was a student or unemployed it was the same. HOWEVER if I wanted breast implants I would have to get private insurance or pay seperately. All countries with universal healthcare handle it somewhat differently but I haven't noticed that the standard of living is lower in countries with these systems and grandma does not have the pin pulled on her.
