Is it possible that last season's rift with China and this season's rift with Russia is part of a master plan to take over the planet? By forging domestic terrorist attacks, Logan can make a case that the US does not have enough global oversight and must take action overseas. It seems like a loose metaphor of our current situation with Bush and the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the VP is is attempting to run Logan through the muck in the court of popular opinion. Therefore, we do in fact have two evil forces at work here...one geared towards global politics and the other domestic.
