FINALLY, THE MEDIA 'DISCOVERS' OBAMA-AYERS RELATIONSHIP

Rick:

I have it on good authority that 40 years ago you were invited to a party where several people were smoking marijuana on a back patio away from the main group and that you were on a first-name basis with some of those people, one of whom you served on a board with.

That you did not immediately call the police and have these people turned in is appalling and certainly colors everything you have done -- and most especially said -- in the intervening years.

Shame on you.

Heh. Just finished my answer for you - even included your argument.

A SHORT BUT PITHY NOTE ON ACHIEVING THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 54

About that GOP-induced stroke: It may be inevitable. You should be taking 81 grains per day of St. Joseph's Aspirin. It really works as a stroke inhibitor and costs pennies.

Otherwise, happy b-day to a very good man.

WHY THE POLITICIZATION OF GOVERNMENT IS WRONG

The denial of your commenters is precious.

In its own way, the manipulation that Dr. Carmona addresses is more insidious than the politicalization of the Just-Ice Department or the disemboweling of FEMA. This cuts to the bone of the need for the government to collect, analyse and dispense medical and public health information unfettered by political or proprietary considerations.

Conservative Republicans who have unfailingly backed their president presumably have loved ones who are faced with medical crises from time to time. Without wishing harm on any of them or those loved ones, I would hope that even a small handful weigh the words of Dr. Carmona as they sit in the visitors room of a nursing home in some future year and look into the distant eyes of a spouse or parent whose end-of-life outcome might have been different had it not been for the deceit of the White House.

Compassionate conservatism, my ass.

WAR? WHAT WAR?

A masterful job of obfuscation.

The court did not say that legal residents who plan mass murder cannot be held as enemy combatants. It said that people cannot be held indefinitely without being charged, let alone tried.

Don't you find it a teensy bit ironic that for all of its breast beating about pushing back against those nasty Islamofascists, the Bush administration has yet to complete a single trial of an enemy combatant in the five-plus years since 9/11?

A SHORT AND RATHER UNNECESSARY RESPONSE TO CHRIS MUIR

Gee. You almost made it to the end of an otherwise very good post without taking a gratuitous swipe at the Big Bad Left. But you couldn't help yourself. It's a shame, because you have a good mind and write well. But you just can't keep your Us vs. Them loathing in check for even a few brief paragraphs. It really diminishes you as someone worth reading.

THE EAGLES AND THE VULTURES

I was there and contray to most media accounts, the interplay between the counter-protesting vets and protesters was fairly benign.

My account is here:
