THE MAN WHO WOULD BE FUHRER

Rick, I missed your post yesterday on McCain's age. Need I remind you that one of the greatest Americans in history, a prime force that steered this nation toward independence, was 70 years old at the signing of the Declaration of Independence and then went on to be ambassador to France until he was almost 80? Need I remind you that the opinion of this great American was respected by all others at the Convention of 1776 and no one, NO ONE, felt he was too old to participate?

Could I also point out that many times in our history we have been steered by the wisdom that only comes with years?

When have we started to label senior citizens as being less capable because they have hit an annual milestone?

This nation seems to be fixated on youth. Beauty and botox are more admirable than the wisdom and experience that comes with age. Can you say that you made better decisions even 15 years ago than you do now?

We now have McCain as our candidate because the same reasoning was used againt Fred Thomspon who I consider to be extremely qualified.

It is not John McCain's age that bothers me. It is his willingness to cross the aisle, and cave to the leftwing because down deep, McCain feels that is the way to go. It is his stand on illegal immigration, campaign finance, that bothers me. Not his age.

Americans are living longer than ever and that is due to advanced medical technology and our own American life style.

Perhaps it would behoove you to visit a gated, adults only housing community to see how seniors now live. These are not people who sit around and talk about the good old days. They are people who have years of experience in how to get things done that volunteer, helping young businesses develope growth plans, mentor high school students, tutor in math and reading, sit on city councils, and use their gained wisdom to help communities in so many ways.

Sure, McCain has made a few gaffes. So what? Have you ever forgotten where you put your car keys?

"That’s because I believe McCain is too old to be president. Not in years – 72 is not too old for some. For him, it is."

What part of that don't people understand? Anyone who aribtrarily takes an age and says someone is too old is a ninny. Jesus Christ read the fucking post.

THE TIMELINE IS STILL A SUCKY IDEA

Rick, I saw Terry's interview. Fortunately for Obama, Terry is much more gracious than I think I could have been. When he jumped in, interrupting Terry, I would not have blamed Terry if he would have said "Excuse me, your arrogant shit. Do you now also possess the power to read minds?" Guess that is why I am not a reporter and Terry is.

Maliki has shown his metal. He is a worm who would still be a guest of Baby Assad if not for George Bush and our removal of Saddam. But now that the heavy lifting seems to have been done by American soldiers, he has decided that he can throw his weight around. Pandering to Obama shows only that Maliki is trying to hedge his bets. And we wonder why Iraq can't get their sh!t together? There's your answer.

Over the last two days I have been in amazement how Obama is (and stated clearly) unwilling to take the opinions of those boots on the ground how things should progress. Instead, he clearly indicated to Terry that he would not place as much importance in Odierno and Petraeus as does our current POTUS. What does that tell you? That Senator Obama is of the opinion that he, with not one minute of military experience, is a better judge of how to run the military than those who have made it their life's work.

Maliki has constantly over estimated the progress of his own forces. I see nothing to tell me that he does not continue to do that.

OBAMA'S MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR

Misty, so the White House emailed a Reuters story that originated with the German publication in Der Spiegel and you find that odd? Emailed it to who? You give such little information so one can only assume that you did it intentionally to taint the story. Hell, it's all over. So what?

I will also tell you that when Reuter's picked up the Der Spiegel story they reported on the English version which left out a couple of important statements by Maliki.

Obama can say that the Bush administration is moving closer to his own Iraq/Afghanistan policies, but that is spin. Pure and simple. There is a reason we are turning over province after province to the Iraqis (the lastest one just this week). As the Iraqis assume more and more responsibility for the security of their nation, we are needed less in certain areas.

But don't let the facts of our turning over the provinces to the Iraqis, as planned by this administration and command on the ground, stop your attempt at spin.

Retire06? Oh, how cute. Don't have enough between your ears to come up with your own moniker?

I hate to tell you, Mr./Ms. Impersonator, that your obvious choice (Senator Obama) has some real problems.

While the Lightworker should have at least a 10% lead over a Republican candidate who seems to be running the most lack luster campaign in decades, he is just slightly 4% ahead. Add to the fact that at least 35% of the 18,000,000 that voted in the primaries for Hillary say they will not vote for Obama under any circumstances and his constant flip-flopping on major issues to the far left, causing left wing political pundits to have buyer's remorse, his campaign just might be in some serious trouble.

If Obama takes his "fact finding" trip to really listen to the command on the groud in Afghanistan and Iraq, and really shows that he has the wisdom to listen to those who are doing the heavy lifting, and if he doesn't make his European jaunt anything other than a major photo op telling the Europeans how he will pander to them as the expense of American interests, he just might break even.

But he is going to have a choice to make; appeal to those "guns and God" blue collar workers in fly over country or lose his far left base. There is a reason that David Axelrod packed little Michelle's bag and sent her home to Chicago. She can't keep her mouth shut and she alienates the "guns and God" crowd.

Now, call your mommie and see if she can come up with something original as a moniker for you. Hopefully, she is smarter than you are.

OBAMA: NOWHERE TO HIDE ON IRAQ

Jimbo, one other thing; race was injected in Obama's campaign when his wife was asked last year on a TV interview if she was worried about her husband running for POTUS to which she replied "I worry about Obama, as a black man, when he goes to the gas station".

Eat your words.

Jimbo, if you want to talk about McCain's "bigamy" can we also talk about Obama's drinking and his statement in his book how he used drugs "enthusiastically". Or perhaps how he sat in a church for 20 years ministered by a racist pastor that preached Marxism with a bit of the Scriptures thrown in for good measure? (Yes, that is what Black Liberation Theology is). Or how he claims now his mother was a "Christian" although he said in his book she was basically an atheist?

How far do you want to go with Obama's past because I would love to throw Tony Rezko, William Ayers, Bernadette Dohrn, Rashid Khalidi and others in your face.

THE CONSERVATIVE'S SHAMEFUL DEFENSE OF GRAMM

Augustine, like all liberals who scream "racist" when anyone who makes a comment that you don't agree with, you seem to know little about the demographics of Mississippi. Until the 70's, Mississippi was 70% BLACK. Most of the people I volunteered to help in MS were BLACK. Collins, MS is 80% BLACK. Sumerall, Seminary, Hattiesburg, Columbia; all have large BLACK percentages.

So please, stick you head back up into your anal orifice as that seems to be where you pull your opinions from.

michael reynolds, yes, people get their "personal" economic news from their bank balanaces, but show me one bank that includes national economic news along with the statement. If you think Americans are not listening to the MSM and their constant harping about "doom and gloom" you are out of touch with the rest of the nation.

Do you have a job? 94.5% Americans do. Has your salary been reduced? Most Americans have not had their salaries cut. But even if you look like Angelina Jolie and people keep telling you that you are ugly, you will eventually begin to believe it.

Americans, for the most part, trust the media. And the media, for the most part, is in the tank for the Democrats. What better way to ensure a Democratic sweep in November than to convince the nation that we are heading toward another Black Friday?

You think Americans don't whine? Don't give me that crap. I went to New Orleans right after Katrina to do volunteer work. I was so sickened by the lack of personal responsibility and the whining about the "government" that I left after just a few days. I spent over a year in Mississippi dealing with people who DID NOT whine but instead just wanted help putting on a roof or finding a place to live. You think all those people still living in FEMA trailers are talking about how great this natin is? If so, you have another think coming.

We are a nation of whiners, not doers. And until we stop thinking that the government is the answer to all our problems, it will continue to get worse.

"Given tht recent polls are showing approx. 75% of the country worried about the economy, either 3/4ths of America are liberals or there ae conservatives worried about the economy too."

And just exactly where do those Americans get their economic news? NYTimes? LATimes? And do you really think that those publications are not pandering to the Democratic Party? Remember, it is not the Congress that gets blamed for a bad economy (although Pelosi has managed to drag it's approval ratings down to single digits), it is the current administration.

With the desire to see another Democrat in office, do you really think that the MSM is going to give any other picture beside doom and gloom? Do you think they will honestly report on the highs and lows the American economy has always had?

If you think we are not rapidly becoming a nation of whiners, you have no look no furthur that New Orleans after Katrina. There is your citizen that believes that if they whine enough, Uncle Sam will come to their rescue.

Comment Posted By retire05 On 15.07.2008 @ 11:03

Please, explain to me why you can't see the "whiner" comment is on the mark?
Have a child out of wedlock; complain about it and Uncle Sam runs to your rescue. Buy a home you could not afford in the first place, complain now that you can't make the payments and Uncle Sam will run to your rescue.

You "whine" about how union members are losing barganing power and I would remind you that when they have secure jobs working on the line where the most popular GMAC vehicle is made, they went on strike.

You "whine" how construction jobs are decreasing in the housing market but don't mention how a huge percentage of those jobs are now held by illegal immigrants who are outsourcing their paychecks to other nations not putting it back into our economy.

You "whine" about the June unemployment rate being 1.1% higher than it was in March, but never mention that part of that is due to students who are looking for work during the summer and the fact that the brilliant plan of increasing minimum wage has lessened the number of low wage jobs available.

Yes, we are on a economic downturn, but I am not ready to stick my Colt Python to my temples yet. I understand that there is good times, and there are bad times, and the wise person prepares for both.

Yes, we have become a nation of whiners. And wasn't it you, Rick, who pointed out that if left up to today's American's the west would have never been won? I wonder, how many of those who were affected by Katrina said "well, I live in a hurricane zone and we can expect this to happen"? What you say was one continous loop of whiners who are still whining almost three years later.

My grandparents were proud they had indoor plumbing. Now people whine if they can't afford a 60" plasma TV. My parents were proud to own a two bedroom home. Now people whine if they can't afford three bedrooms, two car garage, plasma TVs, X-boxes in each kids room, a new car and clothes in their closets they wear once and never wear again.

We are at war. We have been at war before. And Americans had Victory gardens, collected scrap iron, bought war bonds to help pay for the war, rationed gas, butter, meat and numerous other things, women drew lines up their legs with an eyebrow pencil to give the appearance of having on stockings.

Now no one wants to be bothered as the it is only the military at war; Americans are at the mall.

Yeah, I would say that Gramm hit the nail on the head and you, sir, should realize that due to entitlement programs the whining will only get worse.
