THE PUBLIC OPTION: NOT A SLIPPERY SLOPE -- JUST PLAIN LIES

Let me translate from wood to Obamabot, then, Michael:

"michael reynolds Said:
3:33 pm

I’ve suspected from the start that the public option was trade goods. It’s not an original idea with me, though I can’t remember who was suggesting it many months ago.

But you’ll notice that opposition is centered almost entirely on the public option.

In the meantime we’ve all more or less coalesced around portability, no pre-existing conditions, transparency, vouchers for the poor, modification of the tax deduction system and tax increases on the well-off and maybe a national as opposed to state insurance market.

I liked the public option because I like more choice rather than less. But I always thought that’s what we’d be willing to give up to get 75% of what we wanted.

So now we can drop the PO, the Blue Dogs can come rushing back and claim victory. We’ll probably get the Maine women, too, and maybe a random GOPer here or there. The bill will pass. It will be the Obama health care reform, it will be arguably bi-partisan.

It will do little or nothing to bring down costs. For which we can conveniently blame right-wing GOP intransigence and scare-mongering. (The Blue Dogs will be forgiven and forgotten.)

Then, in a few years, we’ll add the public option.

Obama doesn’t care who gets credit, or what people say about him. He only cares about what he gets done. He will have gotten done what he needed to get done."

---Michael Reynolds, 08/16/09, before the script changed and the Public Option became absolutely necessary--again.

Facts and old posts are stubborned things.

Hey, Michael, the public option was just a ploy yesterday. Have things changed? When did you get the new script? You people have become a self-parody. Enjoy these next sixteen months. It will be a long, long time before you get another shot at governance because you have proved piss poor at it in less than a year.

Win a few elections?

Sure.

Bring it.

HEALTH CARE REFORM TEETERING ON THE EDGE OF FAILURE

Thank God for incompetent presidents and their hubris, then.

At the end of the day the problem of the uninsured and underinsured will remain. Rather than tackle this actual problem, Obama and the rest of the left-wing cabal opted to try to grab control of a sixth of the economy. That was all they wanted, and when they didn't get it, suddenly the aforementioned problem wasn't all the important. Obama and the Democrats not only lack the intellect to govern effectively, they lack all compassion. The town hall voices merely were a reflection of the wrath this failed power grab stirred, and voters will register their anger at the polls against this slimy crew next year and again in 2012.

PALIN WINS -- AND LOSES ME

First, busboy, there is no "bill." A mark-up out of committee is what we have and it will bear no resemblance whatsoever to any final legislation. Period. And there are several competing versions floating around. Obama has repeatedly said he wants a single-payer system. As public opinion has turned sharplyu against him, he apparently has forgotten there is a thing called "videotape." You are engaging in pure partisan hackery. Obama has lied many times recently on this point.

And Rick: Yes, there is a huge difference between an ex-governor telling a lie and the Democratic leadership lying endlessly and shamelessly to advance legislation. My point wasn't about moral relativism. It was about the insignificance of Palin's hyperbolic blast as Obama and the Democrats engage in outright deception even the normally clueless public apprehends.

Palin never had you. Her "death board" claim is hyperbole, but much less of a lie than Obama's deceptions that he wants to maintain private health insurance. Not that lying less than Obama and the left-wing lunatics who are rapidly destroying the Dems is a very high bar, mind you.

Palin is just a drop in the bucket in this debate. This monstrosity has been dismantled and exposed more by common citizens than politicians. Say what you will about Jack Murtha, but his pronouncement today that this bill either will have to wait until next year or be scuttled altogether is an astute analyis of the political situation. Murtha knows that Obama and Pelosi are destroying his party. Palin is irrelevant.

Are you actually making the argument that because Palin's is "less of a lie" than Obama's that it's ok?

I am sick to death of the argument, "Yeah...but the other side is worse" or "The other side does it so we've got to do it too."

This is mindless. Conservatives should be dedicated to objective truth - period. I don't care if the other side lies. The best way to counter a lie is with the truth, not by telling another lie - even if it isn't as bad as the left in your opinion.

LEARNING NEW THINGS CAN BE FUN

funny man:

Obama in general and the congressional Dems in particular are considerably worse than their Carter-era counterparts. The McCarthyite tactics of today's Left have alienated more than half of the country. The Dems have permanently lost one of their best allies, the elderly. The priceless part is you don't even see the train coming down the tracks straight at you. That's not wishful at all, but objective fact born out of polls. If you have any doubt, look how rapidly Obama has moved to distance himself from (and throw under the bus) congressional Dems and their more wild-eyed rants.

If you want to bet the farm on continued Democratic electoral gains let alone huge losses, fine. Just get prepared to move off the farm.

There is, again, no moral equivalency between the GOP and the Dems on this issue. The Dems have lied, demonized and again marginalized themselves with the American public, who will crush them like bugs the next few election cycles. The GOP may have its crazies but the Dem brand has taken a beaten like it hasn't experienced since Carter threw on a sweater and told Americans they suck. Good. Despite all the predictions of the GOP's death, the Dems are rushing headlong to the morgue because of their blind arrogance.

VIOLENCE AT TOWN HALLS PREDICTABLE AND DISTURBING

There is no moral equivalence between loud, boisterous or even rude behavior, on the one hand, and physical violece and the threats thereof on the other. If some union thug injures someone or threatens as much--and it may have happened--Obama owns it.

TPM MUCKRAKER AND THINK PROGRESS SPREAD THE CRAPOLA

What's the difference between Birthers and Town Hall/Tea Bag Party conspiracy theorists? Nothing. The lunatic left is in full moonbat mode again, and that's a good thing. Let them connect dots that don't exist, and 2010 not only will be a referendum on Obama but the whack jobs in his party---you know, the types who think ordinary folks meet with health insurance industry titans in dark basements.

This is batshit crazy. Sure, Marshall is a liar and fraud. But most of these left-wing loons actually believe this crap. Birthers look sane by comparison.

DOES THE GOVERNMENT CARE IF YOU GET INTO TROUBLE OVERSEAS ANYMORE?

You are right but not for the directly stated reason.

When people put themselves in harm's way, as apparently happened when this pair of dolts ventured into North Korea from China, our government has no obligation to protect them. If a government crosses a border and does the same thing to our citizens, of course, it verges on an act of war.

And if those truly were tourists in Iraq who ventured into Iran, one word: Darwinism.

I feel the same way about fools who put EMTs, police officers, and other first responders in harm's way when they climb buildings and such nonsense. Let 'em fall.
