RUSH AND RACE: THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY
Next thing you know, Rush will be featuring A Worst Person in the World, forging documents and passing them off as "proof," calling for assassinations of political opponents, and claiming the voting machines were rigged.
Rush's sarcasm when right over your head, but then again, if the racial roles had been reversed you would have been navel-gazing and wondering how talk radio caused such racism.

Maybe it best we remember what led to Bush---McCain, Kerry and Gore, three of the most despicable and dishonest figures in all of American political history. Although Mr. Obama may be a total bumbler and premature failure, at least he is honest to his Far Left worldview. None of the four aforementioned men were. When Dems look at the shambles Obama will leave in his wake, they at least will have the solace to know that unlike Mr. Bush, who brought his party down for several cycles to serve himself, their party leader at least did so on what he perceived as principle.
I submit that Gore or McCain or Kerry would have been at the very bottom of any American presidential list. While Obama will be spared from the bottom slot due to the novelty his ethnic background represented, he at least will have tried to serve his Far Left ideology regardless of how close he gets to the basement.
As you point out, Mr. Bush tried to serve nothing larger than himself. Unfortunately, he would have been surpassed in this regard by either Gore or McCain or Kerry.

As others have written elsewhere, Van Jones' beliefs were a feature and not a bug with this Administration. Now, Obama isn't a conspiracy-mongering Marxist. Yet his first reaction to Gates was that the white cop had to be at fault; the president has spoken repeatedly of returning this nation's wealth to its "rightful owners;" Van Jones' beliefs are in sync with William Ayers and a certain radical priest; and on and on. As pointed by Anon, Van Jones had to be defended by the Left, because failure to do so would call into question Obama's own Van Jones-lite beliefs.
You asked the wrong question. Obviously Jones was unfit if mainstream America is the standard. The larger question is whether someone who accepts his worldview watered down is fit. Van Jones merely is a symptom of what ails this Administration and the Left. Loons though they may be, Olbermann and Hamsher are correct that Van Jones represents what the modern left-wing and more than a third of Democrats believe these days.
Finally, thank God for Beck and FOX. Without both of them, Van Jones likely still would be in a position highly questionable in and of itself, deciding how to undermine this nation's economy and redistribute its wealth under the guise of enviornmentalism.

How stupid is Snowe? She voted for the stimulus. Even her left-leaning constituents don't like it now. But she is going to run into a plane prop over a public option that even, maybe especially, folks Up East find offensive because they remain fiscal cons, like my parents? Freakin' Christ.
