Rick - a wrong doesn't correct a wrong, but it sure gets one even. Noble as your lesson in civics is, there is much more to this election cycle, and, unfortunately, I have to agree with that person's views:

1) In spite of the disheartening mistakes of McCain's campaign (instead of going spring/summer brutally for Obama, he lost precious time, manoevering space and building a presidential image with his inconsequential "friends" townhall meetings), he is still the person deserving the job and significantly better qualified to handle what lies ahead.
2) Don't do onto the other... - oh, yeah, do it, mightily do it, because the other has been at it relentlessly, for years (remember the word "sedition"?.
When dealing with a huge, nihilistic common front like CNN, NYT, LAT, MoveOnOrg, ACORN, etc., there is no time for acting chivalrously - remember McCain's silly reaction to the N. caroline Wright ad?
3) The implications/consequences of this presidency are way bigger than during the 80s or other time. At no time in modern history America was so weak and facing OBJECTIVE circumstances so hostile and dangerous - Obama's election won't lessen our predicaments (We're liked again! We're liked again!) and his presence/personality in the office won't help either.
Simply, a reasonable person cannot expect anything positive from this fellow - so, solace, revenge or righteous action, photoshopping the Opossum is a honorable and patriotic choice.
