HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG

Rick
Congrats. I read you a couple of times a week, and I enjoy your writing. Fearlessness is something I think we all wish we had more of, especially when it comes to big issues. I recall a couple of times reading you when I wondered how the hell you could come to the conclusions you came to, but I realized later that your stuff made me think about those issues from a different perspective. Didn't change my mind, but made me think. And that is something every blogger should aspire to.

MAKING THE CASE FOR A LONG TERM COMMITMENT TO IRAQ

Rick:
I don't agree with your conclusions about whether or not we can "win" in Iraq. However, I do agree that any type of bipartisan solution is a dream. The Left isn't getting more open-minded to what is going on with the war. The Democrats are being moved constantly by the nutroots further and further to the left. Witness the worship at the altar by candidates at Kos's little gathering.

MY EXCELLENT ADVENTURE AT YEARLYKOS

A better description of the Republican party I have not read.
I think a lot of conservative bloggers and right of center radio talk show hosts are dismissive of the nutroots. I agree that to ignore them is to whistle your way past the graveyard. These people are committed to their cause, and they are unified by one thing: Bush Derangement Syndrome. They want to guarantee that no Republican who agrees with Bush about anything is elected. And they are putting their money where their mouth as fund raising shows.
Of course, I could be wrong.

A NON ENDING TO A NON STORY

rick
what do you mean "within a month" the media will be on to the next story. Within a day or two at the most.
But first, the Duke story, the Imus story, the Anna Nicole story, will be re-visited again and again to be sure every last drop of media blood has been squeezed from them. Is it really any wonder that more and more people get their news from the internet, where they can look at what they want to, for as long as they want, as often (or not) as they want.
I may not whole-heartedly agree with everythhing in your post, but it made me stop and think. I like that.
And how in the world could anyone mistake your blog for Terry's. Good Grief!

DEATH STRUGGLE

Are the bombs really in CTU's custody? Really? Oh, I think not.
As for Jack, every time he starts in on that whiney-butt "I just don't know if I can go on" business, I click over to "Dancing With the Stars", or something like that. Jack is not Jack if he aint killing or torturing someone. Period. A leopard can't change his fur, or spots, or whatever.

COMING HOME. BUT AT WHAT PRICE?

The whole thing is Bush's fault. Yeah, that's it, really.

OF DOGWOODS, AZALEAS, AND THE BABES OF SPRING

Rick
You know what else is great about the Masters? As far as I know, no convicted criminals will be teeing it up. Although I am entering the "golden years", and my memory may be slipping, I don't recall in all my years of watching the Masters ever having seen anyone go into the gallery and beat the crap out of a spectator. I don't recall any golfer ever flipping the entire gallery off, or throwing his club at anyone (well, maybe Tommy Bolt might have, once). As far as I know, no riots, murders, mayhem (unless you consider Tiger's win by 12 mayhem), and drunken brawls have ever occurred at the Masters.
And one more thing. Any dumb show of disgust like spitting into the cup at the Masters would be tantamount to playing a round naked with Mickey Mouse ears while singing "Gloria" at the top of your lungs. And just as likely to happen.
Golfers may be prima-donnas, but at least they ain't felons.

IRAN TRIES THE OLD "BAIT AND SWITCH"

Iran lied about the coordinates? Now there is a huge surprise. Yessir, I am just astounded that Iran would lie about anything. But even if they did lie, it's o.k., bacause this whole thing is just about internal Iranian politics. What a bunch of malarky on the part of some people (not you, Rick) who will do or say anything to avoid a confrontation with a sworn enemy of this country, an enemy that has declared itself dead-set on wiping the only real democracy (so far) in the Middle East, Israel, off the map.
Iran is not stupid, they picked English sailors to grab. They know Tony Blair is set to leave as Prime Minister, they know he is beset on all sides by detractors, they know Britain has been generally weak dealing with Islamofascists in Britain. Iran takes hostages because that is what Iran does. Humiliation is the name of the game, they learned the craft with us and Jimmy Carter. And, they are expert at playing the U.N. game. Britain will be lucky to see these guys home in a year, if ever. I see a very harshly worded reprimand coming from the U.N. in, oh, say three months. Or four. And military action by either England or us? waiting. waiting. waiting...
Of course, I could be wrong.

BRITS YAWN AS IRAN DECLARES WAR

Ah, Tano, another Bush hater. So filled with hate and mistrust for Bush that no act by any country against us or our allies is considered an act of war. Instead, just a trifle to be litigated or negotiated.
A word to the wise, Tano. It is better to thought a fool, than to open your mouth and confirm it.
