Man, you weren't kidding when you said that you would be blogging less this year.
Actually, Sue and I have been giving each other the same bug for the last 3 weeks. As soon as one of us starts to get better, we have a replapse and our temps spike and the whole cough/sneeze/runny nose thing starts all over.
I've almost been over the damn thing twice. It's something that happens every spring for some reason - Feb-March. No matter what we do, we can't shake the damn thing.
Anyway, the last few mornings I can barely drag myself around to do my work - no time for the blog. Hopefully, things will get back to normal this week.

Michael, I hope you're right, but I'd bet you are wrong. But even if you are right, the bigger question is "where was the nadir" during this next year. If its true that things are getting better 1 year from now, but only because the Dow floored at 4000 (or worse), I think you could only consider your victory pyrrhic.

I'm not sure what gifts you are talking about... he reads a teleprompter very well. Great organizer?... not so much. Deep thinker?... no proof of that. Inpiring leader?... yes, for 30% of the population (but so was Bush). Gracious international statesman with our strongest ally?... nope.
Let me think... hmmm... hmmm... yep, good reader. That pretty much sums up all his gifts that I can think of. You know of some others?

A TIPPING POINT ON OBAMA IN SIGHT?
The Republican in me wants the disaster to continue- the 2010 elections can't come soon enough. The capitalist in me wants this pitiful experiment in fail, and I know it will. But the selfish guy in me that is watching my 401k tank wants him to succeed, although I'm fairly confident that he won't.
Thanks for pointing out Newt's 12 point plan to recovery... do you take back your disparagement of the "conceptualizer" that doesn't offer any alternatives to the present course?

Obama would use that as an excuse to quadruple the size of the (already) bloated IRS. They would get "their" money.Better idea- let each of us do more to get out the vote on election day. Bush screwed conservatives, McCain is barely a conservative, Obama put on a great dog and pony show during the campaign... its a wonder we didn't lose by a larger margin. Two and four years from now, we'll have another chance, and we had better make the most of it, or Taggart Transcontinental (and the rest of the country) is fucked.
