WHY AMERICA NEEDS A SHRINK

The issue with freedom is directly linked to population and technology.

In 1870, when an American got a 100 acre homestead. you could do just about anything you wanted. You work for yourself killing all the buffalo and turning the prairie into farmland and do as you pleased. You would have next to no contact with any government. You and your wife would have 8 kids, half of whom would die before 1. You would also die at about 30 because life was harsh but you were free, completely and totally free.

In 2009, you live in an single family home with about 5000 people living within that 100 acres. You can't even shoot a gun because you would kill someone if you did but you have electricity, sewers, police and fire. You come in constant contact with government: speed limits, sales tax, gun licenses. You work for someone else making incredible stuff: airplanes, cars, phones, software. You will only have two kids because they will both grow to out live you and you will probably live to be 78 years old.

There is no way you can have 300 million people survive under the rules of the 1870s. Life has changed too much. I know that we have lost a lot of freedoms because of it but I have gained a lot of new freedoms that they never had. Overall I'll take 2009. Bring on healthcare reform.

MORE THAN POLITICAL CORRECTNESS OR VICTIMHOOD AT WORK IN FORT HOOD ATTACK

NPR did a story saying that his peers felt that he might be psychotic. The commander of the department Major Hasan was working in tried to have him removed but work rules for Doctors made it almost impossible to remove him. So the hospital pushed him off on the next station. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

It was our own bureaucratic rules that killed the soldiers in Fort Hood. Major Hasan was a troubled soldier. Everyone could see it but nobody could stop it.

A RELATIVELY SHORT FOLLOWUP TO MY PJ MEDIA ARTICLE ON BI-PARTISANSHIP

I don't see how the two parties can govern together. Their governing philosophies are completely incongruent. How do the Democrats deal with "The government can do nothing well"?

Medicare and Social Securities problems are easily solved. It's just that the decisions that have to be made are not pleasant for the electorate. But the Republican solution seems to be to end the programs and make seniors deal with it on their own. We already know how that goes. We'll end up with poor and destitute old people.

As a Republican, I have seen that government run universal health has been done by other countries. They have lower infant mortality and longer life expectancy then we do and they do it for less than we spend. I been told by all my Repubican friends that the statistics are all lies to discredit the great U.S. health care system.

How do you govern together with irrational ideas like this?

RUSH VS. NEWT: GAME ON!

You've go things 180 degrees wrong when you call Rush Limbaugh a party man and Newt Gingrich a movement conservative. Limbaugh's philosophy has not changed or "matured" as yours has. His conservatism is the same today as it was when he wrote his two books in the 90's.

His position is now and has always been, stick to the principles. I agree that Reagan was more pragmatic than Rush. I fault Reagan for that. But Reagan was a politician and Rush isn't. He is a voice for fundamental conservatism: low taxes, small government, maximum personal rights.

It appears to me that you are the one who has lost perspective and like other former conservatives have become centrists and more party men than you realize.

WEAK TEA

You should be smart enough to understand that any/everything in existance had to "start somewhere" and the start is not as polished as the finished product. Bring your head out of wherever you have it hidden and take a little more educated "look around"
Thanks

IS 'BARACK THE MAGIC NEGRO' RACIST?

You haven’t said anything to refute me. You just plastered gibberish on my blog. Yes, sweetheart, there are “magic words” that when used by the left, automatically elevate their argument to a supreme moral plane and stifles any response that can be made in the “marketplace of ideas.” The fact that you are too dense to see it and blissfully unaware of this makes you as dumb as any liberal who ever visited here.

Liberals are generally thoughtful enough to come up with elaborate speech codes with forbidden words and definitions and such. Have you put any work into a speech code necessary to protect the feelings of people like you? I mean, I get that "racist" and "bigot" are magic hurtful words that should be treated differently, and that can't adequately be addressed (at least by some special people) by more speech, but what else? Do you have a list?

By the way, I may have wronged you by assuming that you were a hypocrite when your views are actually consistent. Do you, in fact, support speech codes that treat some words -- racial epithets, etc. -- as being outside the normal marketplace of ideas, and therefore requiring special intervention?

Are you a dick by choice or does being a dick come to you naturally?

I'll ask Mom, but I think it was mostly upbringing.

You know, it's funny how liberal this sounds. Leftists have long argued for bans on "hate speech" on the grounds that certain words are inherently powerful, "magic words" outside the marketplace of ideas, and render their targets incapable of defense. That's the justification for things like campus speech codes. Principled conservatives have refuted this, recognizing that words are words and that more speech is the proper response to dickish speech.

But here come the unprincipled self-styled conservatives like you, ready to use liberal "magic words" theory, whining that being called a "racist" or "bigot" is uniquely hurtful, outside the scope of the marketplace of ideas, and render the victim unable to respond.

If you are a conservative, why don't you believe in the marketplace of ideas? Are you some sort of Chomsky reader? Or a French trade unionist?

Are you a dick by choice or does being a dick come to you naturally?

Someone needs to do a parody with Reverend Wright using Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog.

Jeremiah was Obama's pastor.

He said, he's a good friend of mine.

Now he claims he never heard a word he preached in 20 years.

And that's not the man he knew.

It was never the man he knew.

When he said,

God Damn the USA

God Damn The USA.

May all the Jews in Israel be pushed into the deep blue sea, and God Damn the USA.

Once his church invited Louis Farrakhan, and let me tell you what they did do.

They gave him a lifetime achievement award, must had been for hating those jews. For they all hated them there jews.

And they all sang.

God Damn the USA.

God Damn the USA.

May all the Jews in Israel be pushed into the deep blue sea, and God Damn the USA.

ELECTION DAY THOUGHTS

I'm sure the William Kristols and Joe Liebermans of the world are sipping champagne right about now. They did their job for 8 years, duping the most clueless traitorous Republicans that ever existed.

Now they can sit back and watch Rahm Emanuel take over and continue it all.

SHAME on any right winger that ever listened to AEI, the Weekly Standard or any of the false conservative Neocon outlets.

You were duped, and you failed us and our party.

IF ELECTED, OBAMA WILL BE MY PRESIDENT

Bourgeoisie: that changes if we have a depression thanks to Obama, and the rightwingers don't have jobs. Honestly, I don't think it's such a good thing that most of us are so even-tempered. We really need to start going after the traitors. And not just the Obamas and the Bidens, but the local lowlifes. When it starts becoming a regular thing for lefties to show up in parks with skulls split by a pick, they will shut up like the giggly little cowards they are.
