TAKE ME OUT TO BUZKASHI

My husband brought back an interesting souvenir from his trip to Iraq in 2003. It's a gold painted goat's skull. The skulls were used like soccer balls there.

Yeah.

MUSINGS ON A LATE SPRING AFTERNOON

I have been uncharastically gloomy and doomy myself these days. Like you, I see the writing on the wall. And it ain't lookin' good.

I am actually looking forward to the end of the Bush administration and I never thought I'd say that outloud. Other than his steadfastness on the war on terror, there is little else to commend his time in office on. And with the way Iraq has been so horribly mismanaged, the shimmer is off that shine.

TIME IS NOW THE BIGGEST ENEMY IN IRAQ

I have to say, with deep regret, that I am coming to see the war the same way, Rick. It is so discouraging. I keep thinking of Iraqis my husband met and enjoyed the aquaintance of during his trip into Iraq, just before the war began. Some still are in touch. Most have fled the country for Jordan or the U.S. Just a couple of weeks ago the husband wrote a letter of recommendation for one of the Iraqi engineers he was working with there and is here in Michigan now, trying to remain in the U.S.

I wish the president had been able to keep us focused on the mission and had let Rumsfeld go sooner. I wish he had listened to others, too, like McCain and Graham.

My husband is a Vietnam vet and is furious of the left's defeatism. He is so afraid of a long term slaughter of the innocents in Iraq after we leave, if success is not achieved.

My hope is running out.

SHERYL CROW IS ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON

My most vivid memory of a bidet experience involves my son. When he was but 15 months old, he and I were in a hotel room in Caracus, Venezuela and he toddled off to check out the bathroom as I was searching for his pjs in his luggage. I heard a swoosh of water and there he was, standing next to it in amazement of the water shooting up to the ceiling.

Yeah, good times.

CONFESSION: I HATE DEMOCRACY

I love democracy. I don't love big government and the taxes 'the government' feels entitled to from my pocket.

I don't love that the new Democrat majority has sent up the largest tax increase in U.S. history either.

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH

You are a good brother, Rick. Your Mom did a fine job.

I read the blog entry from Terry, after reading about it on another blog, and thought, ah ohh, people will be jumping off the cliff over this! I don't agree with him but he voices a very distinct opinion of many in today's society.

And, no, he should not be fired. I can't believe that would even be on the table.
