THE IRAQ CONUNDRUM

i'm all for kicking out the jams and decimating whatever and whoever we have to...but first the civilian leadership must be changed. they have bungled this from the start, including not finishing the job in afghanistan, and there is absolutely no reason to think they won't continue to do so. i don't know the mechanism for this, but i know it needs to be done.

IRAN: WAR CAN WAIT

it would certainly behoove us as a nation to wait and hope the next leader is willing and able to pursue a foreign policy with less arrogance, more intelligence, and above all vision. given cheney's (and his sock-puppet) record to date someone should take the keys to the military away.

RAGE AGAINST THE NIGHT - AND GLOBAL WARMING

"...we aren’t in favor of crippling our economy..."
so everyone is just supposed to buy your doom and gloom predictions no matter how unfounded...typical.
try this todd...a lot of us see this for what it is...an issue that some have decide to use as a wedge issue...very similar to immigration...yes it's a problem we need to deal with, but it's not a full on crisis. the problem is that unless folks like you are hit over the head nothing gets done. take for instance the multitude of warnings about terrorism on our soil before 9.11. it took an actual event to wake so-called republicans up to the threat. now the same so-called republicans claim to be the only ones who get it. so if anything is to get done about the environment (besides so-called republicans gutting and reversing the progress of the clean air act and the clean water act and on and on) it takes people like al gore sounding the alarm loud and from the roof-tops. maybe it's over the top, maybe not...but at least it's getting reaction. we've already seen that folks like you would just as soon sit around and wait until it's too late.

rick...in general stewart and colbert are doing what you attempted...satire...you either don't get the concept...or you just aren't very good at it. but i do appreciate your confidence in comparing yourself to them...it's like when george bush compares himself to george washington...silly, but cute in a precocious sort of way. the truth is that most of us who are genuinely concerned about the environment see opportunity in advancing science, and ultimately industrial processes, to the point where we can produce whatever we want at pollution levels equal to those in the past. unfortunately there are people like you, and others who have posted above, who seem to be frightened by change. but it's ok...history is rife with examples of the masses taking a long time to come around to what we now see as common sense advances.

sure rick...and mis-representing someones position...like when you talk about abandoning all industrial production...is called lying. but that's what you "grown-ups" usually do when you really have no other valid argument. and really rick, if you have to lie to support your position...how strong is that position?

DEMS NEW INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY: MANUFACTURING SCANDAL

"...hypocrites taking political advantage of the stupidity and incompetence of the White House and Gonzalez..."
if pointing out their incompetence, and their corruption, providing oversight, and participating in the checks and balances provided by the constitution can be called taking political advantage...then yeah.
