one thing that wasn't mentioned is the creation of new crimes when you take the guns away from law abiding citizens, such as in australia's case, where the criminals in the outback (and elsewhere) actually quite waiting for people to leave their homes before robbing them (home invasions).

as to wesley clark, even if mccain's vietnam stint so calledly doesn't count, what about him being in charge of a fighter squadron, and 25 + years in congress and the senate, friggin rube... he is already under the obama bus, to come back to his cabinet after he wins...

527's effects are tricky, and can easily backfire. the swiftboats were credible in that they actually served with kerry, moveon uses focus groups and visuals that are sometimes just downright lude, crude, and rude, i wonder if the latest one with the gal and her child and the hundred year war comment were anymore than just actors.

and please let us remember as Robert A. Heinlein once said "there is no such thing as a free lunch" the system is closed, the money has to come from somewhere, so in reality there is no such thing as "free" health care, such an ignorant misnomer, though the ignorant masses will go on believing it till it is too late, and even their taxes will be above 50%, c'est la vie...
personally i think it is kinda screwy to compare water to oil, first off they don't mix. second, have you ever compared what we pay (even at our current inflated prices) to what europeans pay. doubt it, just look it up.

problem is most of america is ignorant, either they don't have a college education, or they refuse to think for themselves, the info is out there, just friggin google it. i am a geography professor, and when i was taking my undergrad classes 12 years ago, my professors where telling us the day would come when china and india would come on line and compete for natural resources, in honesty, they still are not completely on line, when that day comes we will really know about it.
as for water, do realize you pay for water twice? water is a utility, pretty much a necessity, our taxes pay for those systems (infrastructure, and people) that supply it to us (water in, water out) and then we pay again to get it, fine by me, better than out of a bottle. oil is not a utility, and we are getting oil and gas much cheaper than we should. i think your water argument is simply flawed from the get go.
as for medicine, can one really say that medicine in the US is not almost socialized? medicare, medicade for the elderly, sick, and poor. the only people that pay are those that have the means to pay for it. sure socialized medicine will let us all have routine check ups, but god help you if you get any interesting malady (ask canadians about that). the real problem is people do not live within their means and make sure they have paid for the necessities before they get the luxuries (american way, right!) which is bullsh%t, and that is truly what is being tested by the downturn in the economy, do i ride the bus and quit driving the expedition (lifestyle), do i pay my bills before i get the nintendo etc.
of course the wealthy should foot the bill, yeah right, what economist out there worth his salt will say that obama's social plans can be paid for by increasing the taxes on the wealthy? flat tax is the only fair way, you shouldn't be taxed more because you did things right, or where born into a family.
used to be a saying out there, if it seems to good to be true it probably is... should be the obama manifesto.
agreeable, glad you mentioned the adams family and the kennedumbs, what do you say, what do you do, Americans have delusions of grandeur, pretty sure obama will help us as he is the "average" man that will help us "overcome", overcome what that is to be determined. though i must say, i would prefer my dreams of talking pigs and flying monkeys to bushbots anyday...

excuse me, but has anyone ever heard of the separation of powers? bush isn't in charge of our economy you friggin yokes. you leftards blame bushy so easily for everything, but who has an approval rating of "18%" yeah your democrat congress, which hasn't done jacksh%t since they have been there. why haven't they cut off the funding for the war, why haven't they done anything but their bit$h ass witch hunts which haven't uncovered anything. get real, bush is part of the problem but congress and the senate are allowing the war to continue, and are in charge of spending and pork barreling.

Oh, and mister statistics, it is not spurious, to associate reid and pelosi with our economy, they are the ones spending our money and changing things in the government, correlation is not causation, but in this case it makes friggin sense, at least more sense than bush, bush, bush, bush, bush, grow up, or how about this go to school with your kids and learn about the separation of powers in the United States government.

nicely put, odds of it being understood zero, their ilk only hear what they want to hear (sometimes they even bend it into what they want to hear (e.g., NAFTA Canada or Iran being a small inconsequential country), or they get stuck on repeat rhetoric, why do you think obamessiah's whole mission is to just repeat over and over and over and over that mccain is bush, he has nothing on mccain and neither do they. i can barely wait for the two to do the town hall thing, hopefully mccain will be able to speak to the many decades of experience and learning that he has behind him, and most importantly to the fact that their has been no bigger critic of this current administration on the right than him (yes hagels, barrs, and pauls are out there, but they are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum than obama, which really doesn't make them much better. maybe we really need a good slap in the face and as all things appear we have one coming, i just hope it is not too vicious. now to see if in response we get rationally discoursed or if we get the usual vehement childish cursing rhetoric.
