ISRAEL GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS OF PLANNING IRAN ATTACK?

I would also like to point out that there is no "Israeli" opinion as they also have widely differing viewpoints. Some of the evangelic Armageddon brigades have aligned themselves with the extremist settlers and I don't think the United States should support any of this nonsense. The Middle East needs a rational settlement not religious nutcases dictating terms (of course that also includes Islamic terrorists and extremist groups like Hezbollah).

Iran is not the Arab world and I'm really not sure that is a wise move, also for Israel, in the long run. At the moment you have the religious zealots firmly in control but there are large sections of the population that are not only well educated but also waiting for better times. An attack would make the population unite. Ok, if Iran is close to attacking Israel this attack would be justified. Apart from that why should the US support this?

THE INCREDIBLY STUPID THOUGHTS OF DEEPAK CHOPRA

I remember there was the German yoga peace party who wanted to go down to Bosnia to stop the fighting via jumping up and down in a yoga squat. I would have loved to see the eyes of the Serb soldiers being confronted with that bunch...I guess you almost have a billion Indians so no suprise there are some outliers.

NOT EVEN A BONE FOR THE NETNUTS

I've meant to say "does NOT listen to the netnuts"

Rick,
you have to admit, so far Obama was pretty smart in his picks. As far as I'm concerned I was happy to hear he is talking to Brent Scowcroft. Let's hope that is a good sign. Doesn't surprise me that he listen to the netnuts. As you have pointed out numerously in your blog, he is first and foremost interested in his career and down the road another 4 years.

OOGEDY-BOOGEDY AND BIBBIDI, BOBBIDI, BOO

The 'litmus test' of the right is 'PC' on the left. Both just tools to beat the living daylight out of intra-party rivals. However, the 'terror' of both now seems pretty much diminished.

TWITS IN MCCAIN CAMP MISFIRE IN PALIN ATTACKS

Pythagorus,
my words indeed; good, productive intellectual discourse is the medicine the doctor ordered not Coulter etc.
I do see the populist appeal of Sarah Palin but not the road forward and as I have said on this blog before she is not the most intellectually inquisitive person nicely said. BTW, I also don't think we need leaders or leadership to get this going to paraphrase 'Yes we can'.

WHAT MIDDLE AMERICA THINKS OF THE ELECTION

Gayle, is your prediction fact or wishful thinking? I just looked at the RCP average and Obama is ahead a whopping 7%. So I guess you don't have to worry about riots.
