Agreed, Joe Wilson is a very scummy man. Joe Wilson did NOT, however:
1. Start a preemptive war under false pretenses.
2. Attack a country that had not attacked us first.
3. Say bin-Laden, the mastermind behind 9/11, doesn't matter to the U.S. anymore.
4. Send nincompoops to Iraq to dismantle the Iraqi military and guarantee a civil war.
5. Privatize a military action, wasting billions enriching Halliburton and others.Well, you get the point. Prediction. Cheney will resign the vice-presidency due to "health reasons" before this year is out.

Well, lets face it. Hate is a stock in trade for fringe elements of the far left and the far right. It is a promotional tool for some and a personal belief system for others. One of the sillier parts of blogging is that reasonable people from both the conservative and liberal sides constantly point out the fringe element of their opponents and try to make the case that ALL of the other side is just like the fringe nuts.
Rick Moran is as conservative as anyone and is to be commended for this slapdown of this wreckless, publicity seeking word whore (and yes, the same term applies to the likes of Al Franken on the left).
There are freaks and misfits on both sides of the political spectrum, they are easily identifiable, and best are ignored in honest political debate.

Thank you for this outstanding tribute to a giant of a man. It is indeed a good thing when people can seriously disagree about politics but still find the good in each other. Rick, I get snippy about your content at times, but you are a fabulous writer and thinker and I read you first each day. Thanks again and may all our politicians follow your lead.

Um, SSheil, dude, Richard Nixon and Jerry Ford ended the war in Vietnam - remember the Paris negotiations, Kissinger's Peace Prize, any of that sound familiar - at all? Not a Democrat ending there, but they fuzzled about in Vietnam enough on their own to be no heroes of that mess.
I notice you didn't deny any of the facts I presented about who created the Iraq mess and what our options are, just a little unrelated history and some name calling. Nice try, but no cigar. And FYI, I am not a Democrat.

Recent polls agree that the majority of Americans do not support the Iraq war and want the troops out. Perhaps a slow bleed is preferable after all to a "fast dismemberment and death", the current strategy. If you think the U.S. has the political will to stay another 10 years (anti-insurgency experts ballpark figure for defeating an insurgency), you are insane.
Is Tony Blair and the British "retreating"? The dirty secret is that there is no honorable way out of Iraq for the United States except to just leave. The U.S. cannot(will not?)stay until the insurgency, civil war, religious in-fighting, and terrorist poking the U.S. in the eye desists.
The Democrats are right. Declare victory and go home. Sometime when you have dug yourself into a deep enough hole, the only sensible thing to do is stop digging. It is the only available option, like it or not. And lastly, the Democrats did not bring the shovel, start the digging, and have little responsibilty for backfilling the deep hole we find ourselves in, though it will be left for them to do.

I like your work a lot, Rick, but why this post? You claim the mainstream media benefits from the popular culture, but then write a Ms. Spears post yourself. Throwing in a few sympatheic remarks doesn't excuse doing the same thing about which you complain.

Thoroughly disliking a President's poor decision making abilities, disdain for the legal and political process that is America, and stubborn refusal to deal with reality is not hatred, just a sad conclusion the majority of Americans have made.
