THE SEDUCTIVE BUT EMPTY CAMPAIGN OF BARACK OBAMA

BHO is a breath of fresh air as far as I'm concerned, Rick. I also think he'd make a lousy president. Much as I want to vote for him, not gonna do it, but he is a huge step in the right direction for Dem's. The Barack phenomenon is very generational. He seems to represent a lot of what those of us living in the boomer shadow all these years have had to deal with. Technically, he's a boomer but acts like an X'er.

Agreed, he needs more seasoning.

THE DEMOCRATS IN A NUTSHELL

The problem with expecting the government to ameliorate our pain, is where does it stop? Suppose I'm in pain because I don't have a newer car. Aren't I entitled to a better ride, or a more efficient one? Suppose I'm in pain because I spend more money than I take in. Aren't I entitled to a more expansive lifestyle? Where do you think this sense of entitlement comes from? If people know that the government will bail them out when they make risky, stupid, or short-sighted decisions, then expect them to make more of them.

COULD CONSERVATIVES WORK WITH A PRESIDENT OBAMA?

"Yes, some of his programs are echoes of the dying New Left paradigm of massive government intrusion into areas that heretofore were the province of individuals and families."

After reading that sentence, I couldn't help but think of the Bush administration's warrantless spying efforts.

Apology accepted, Admiral.

FACING UP TO THE UNBEARABLE TRUTH

Others have said it before me, but I'll say it again; Rick and a lot of the commenters here don't know much about "fundies", as you call them. I am one, and I am not myopic, nor am I an idiot. I understand and support Jesus' admonition to leave to Ceaser what is Ceaser's. I don't vote for a person's faith, I vote for the person I think would be the best leader for America.

I also agree that Huckabee and Obama would both be terrible Presidents, in the mold of Carter. Nevertheless, as pointed out by many here, Huckabee has almost no chance to win the nomination. If the rest of the country follows the arcane habits of Iowa, I'll eat my hat.

McCAIN TO BE BLINDSIDED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE ON MONDAY? (MAYBE NOT: SEE UPDATE)

Rick,
I think you are probably right on McCain being the target here. Leboutillier is a decent enough fellow but the VN POW/MIA's have been a major bee in his bonnet for, well forever. Not saying it's unjustified but McCain really ticked a bunch of people off with the VN normalization/trip back in the nineties. Long memories there.

One nit to pick:

"For some, the war will never end. Only when the last Viet Nam era American passes on will the War in Viet Nam truly be over."

Well, upon re-reading, I guess that quote includes the hippy-dippy protesters as well as the vets. So nothing really to quibble with after all.

THAT WAS A CONVENTION TO REMEMBER (PART 3)

Well, that was certainly interesting. Not very informative, but interesting. Perhaps you should meet a few more evangelicals before attempting to describe their behavior. Watching "The 700 Club" isn't enough.

NOW'S THE TIME TO COME OUT FOR FRED

SLimGuy is right.

No states should be before "Super Tuesday"...none.

The "miracle" you speak of for Fred to win is the same direct cause which provided three liberal candidates to either lead or have led in the polls.

This is stone voter ignorance and nothing else. By all rights, those three clowns shouldn't have made it out of the gate on a republican ticket let alone lead in the polls!

THOMPSON GOES "ALL IN" FOR IOWA CAUCUSES

Everything you list as aspersions against Fred are just that, aspersions. They are also patently false and were created/repeated by the left leaning MSM and political pundits before Fred even entered the race...they are that scared of a real conservative occupting the White House. Given your take on the situation, you were obviously taken in by it also. How could this be?...because people don't do their own homework, they're too busy parroting nonsense when all the information they could ever want is at their fingertips.

A very similar thing can be said about the Huckster, only his reinvention of himself and what he says today on every subject except one, yes one, is a near complete or complete opposite of his position or actions a very short time ago.

If you haven't chosen who you're supporting yet please, do your research first as the work has been done for you from reliable and credible sources. If you have already chosen a candidate based on only what they are saying today, you are being duped by several of the candidates....Fred isn't one of them.
