WHEN YOU THINK IDIOCY, "THINK PROGRESS"
Most of us as adults do not use the word in casual conversation, at least most people I know. I would guess that you would rarely hear it on the speaking circuit. It is a word often used for but not specifically limited to a time when you hit your thumb with a hammer, spilled coffee in your lap or perhaps when you've lost to a better hand in poker or maybe even by your boss when you have shown your incompetence. In the context and forum which Sally chose to us the word, it was an attention grabber but it could also have been an inducement by young minds to spike up their vocabulary a little.

I still remain committed. We are now getting close to elections and the politicians are getting edgy. many of them might be worried at losing numbers.
I pin our hopes on what "The General" recommends in due time. Like many others have expressed here, many of the soldiers and bloggers are expressing the feeling of accomplishment and seeing signs that conditions are improving.
After all or work, I don't think we should walk out now or talk about it now. Iran is obviously just waiting in the wings and currently doing a few intro's. Let's give "The General" his due.

FRED THOMPSON: THE MAN, THE MOMENT, THE MESS
Nice article Rick and I do enjoy reading all of your articles.
Our hopes are always to have a candidate that meets all of our expectations. Each of us measures that differently.
Personally, I became familiar with Fred Thompson via Watergate hearings and Meet the Press type shows and of course the Paul Harvey substitute position which he fills. Although I have seen him in a few movies, I guess seeing him on Law and Order a few times brought back my visual identification of him.
Obviously Fred will not meet everyone's expectations. Listening to his speeches and reading his articles he appears to be the best choice by far for me.
I hope he remains spontaneous and articulate as he runs in this race.

Many of us are actually, anxiously, anticipating a big boom from Fred Thompson considering his current polling numbers while not as yet a declared candidate.

THE TRIUMPH OF HATE OVER PRINCIPLE
It sounds like one of those times we need a President Reagan like figure to line up the networks and then give one of those good lectures about the failings of the Congress, directed to the American public and which inspires them to call their represenative. Yea...wishful thinking!
