I am sick of the "dumbest plot ever" meme. It is suicidal but Army posts are gun-free zones to keep soldiers from being stupid. Unless there is training going on, soldiers keep their weapons locked in the arms room. And even when issued their weapons for training, they aren't given ammo until they hit the range.
Even on Camp Victory, Iraq soldiers are only required one magazine. The big difference between this and VTech is that the soldiers wouldn't wait in line for thier bullet.
