DEMOCRATS SAY THE DARNDEST THINGS (PART 5,197)

I don’t think Bush has any chance of pulling off what he is trying to do, so the sooner he admits defeat, the fewer American troops will die pursuing the unattainable and the faster we can get our military focused and prepared to focus on doing things that protect Americans rather than Iraqis.

so does this mean I’m rooting for him to fail?

Steve is wise. Consider what he has to say, and know that he sums it up for about 70% of Americans.

I will allow the link to stand but please, in the future, try something original. Looking at the same leftist propaganda gets boring after a while.

And I get bored reading all the right wing propoganda. MinorRipper is a good blogger. You may want to listen to what he has to say.

WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND

The critical difference being that President Bush believes in our mission in Iraq

Comment by Sensible Mom

Then why aren't Jenna and Not Jenna joining the fight in Iraq? I don't believe any senior person in the white house has any loved ones in harms way. I guess Mr Bush does believe in the mission - as long as other peoples kids are in the crosshairs.

MISSING SOMETHING?

“The Sunnis had their chance, it is time to crush them.”

Ahem! Most of the Muslim world is Sunni. Saudi Arabia—the great friend of the Bush family—is Sunni. Do you think for one second that the Saudis are going to support ethnic cleansing in Iraq? Or the rest of the Muslim world? Why do you think that Cheney was summoned to Saudi Arabia in December?

Most of the folks posting on this site do not know the difference between Sunnis, Shia, Kurd, or the blue light special at Kmart. Learning about the differences between those people is paramount to bringing peace to the middle east. But see, it takes time and effort to understand what makes them different, and that is just too much to ask. So they spout their nonsense about killing them all or just killing the 'bad guys'. It really exposes the limits to their global history knowledge. It is vital we understand the various people in the ME. We should have known that BEFORE we occupied their country, but we didn't. Now we don't know what to do.

THE DARK SIDE OF "TRADITIONAL VALUES"

Jim says: I believe there are two oaths. One done in public as a group, and one done in private. Many people I think take oaths very seriously. I would be disturbed if it were otherwise..

Very true. 100% in agreement. The salient point though is to know that no written word or book is required when administering or taking an oath. Even in court, nobody swears to tell the truth on a book or manuscript. Aain, we have a show oath whereby elected people will bring the bibles given to them by their grandmother or another 'holy' book which is important to them. Just because it appears on TV that people use a 'holy' book of some sort, does not make it a necessity.

The main problem I have with allowing oath-swearing on the Qur’an is the fact that the Qur’an allows muslims to lie:

Sir, the oath of which you speak is done FOR THE CAMERAS. It is not an oath taken as a promise to God. There is no requirement to swear an oath on any written word or book. The public oath is a PR image for the 'folks back home'. Please learn a little bit before you write things which are not true. Some folks might believe you - and that would be a shame. Congresspeople could swear an oath on a phone book if they chose to.

Then you haven’t been paying attention. Sir, please. It is true I have not paid attention to Fox news, O'reilly, hannity, coulter, limbaugh, haggerty, falwell, malkin, beck, swaggert, etc...So truly, I may have not been exposed to the 'information' you are privy to. If you are serious - that is your fear of being overrun - there really is no sane response to that paranioa. I sincerely hope your children don't learn from your example. We need more sanity in this world, not less.

How many times do we have to hear that the goal of the religion of pieces is to populate an area then take it over.

Wow, I have never heard or read that. Words like that sorta make you sound crazy. It is a shame that reasonable people reach so low to demonize folks who are different (thought, not that much) from you.

CROCODILE TEARS FROM THE LEFT

As long as people and businesses can make money, they will always find reasons to do business with the US. Even if the entire world were against us - which it is not - somebody would be buting something from us or selling something to us. Money creates its own 'playing field' and everybody wants to be a part of it. I don't agree with the comments by tps about the lefties 'hating' anybody. Sure there are folks who do that, on both sides. If after six years the US has fallen to this, we are truly in trouble. America and Americans must stick together. Even if we adamantly disagree with others' points of view. I believe we all must continue to find ways to communicate as a country.

JOINT CHIEFS QUESTION IRAQ TROOP "SURGE"

I don't know about anyone else, but I would tend to believe the Generals rather than the administration. That is no 'slam' on the administration, it is a reflection of who knows best. The generals are on the ground and have access to more 'timely' (that is, day to day) information. If the Generals feel bringing in more troops would work, I am sure they would scream for the increase, but they are not screaming for the increases. I am hoping this 'surge' is not another smoke and mirrors game by our president. He has cried wolf too many times for this citizen.
