IRAQ: THE WITHDRAWAL CLOCK IS OFFICIALLY TICKING

Rick, c'mon, this is a pretty lousy post. We're losing in Iraq because our national will to win isn't strong enough? Are you kidding me?

We don't have enough troops there to provide security, quell the violence and stabilize the situation. To blame our inability to accomplish the above on a lackluster cheering section back home is just dumb.

Please, take off the partisan blinders for five seconds, especially if you're going to talk about the war. If you want to go through the litany of talking points regarding taxes, abortion or gay marriage, by all means, have at it. But this is a WAR, our men and women in Iraq deserve more (from both sides) then lazy, asinine, dishonest, partisan arguments.

With that being said, I enjoy your site, even when it sends my blood pressure through the roof! I'll step off my soapbox now.

ESCAPING THE LEGAL AND MORAL QUAGMIRE OF GUANTANAMO

The 'war on terra' is bogus. It is not a war, just a convenient geo-political ploy to enrich the arms industry and their subsidiary industries, which are vast. Our 'enemy' is an ideology, which can never be eradicated, ergo a permanent war...isn't that great?! - unending profits. Any 'war' will have the added side-effect of keeping the masses in a paralytical state of fear so that critical dissent is always stifled or muted.

Bush is a lazy frat boy. He has stated that "diplomacy is hard work"...well, duh!

It is much easier to strike out or isolate those with whom you disagree. It requires very little thought or consideration, but the consequences are always a cycle of spiraling responses leading to ever-increasing violence. It is simply stupid and childish, but the current foreign policy of the U.S. is operated on this very childish level. It is not just incompetence. It is incompetence combined with laziness.

I long for a time when adults will be in charge again.

AL GORE: MAKING THE WORLD SAFE FOR ANTI-AMERICANISM

Saying what Gore did on American soil would be an expression of the very American right to freedom of speech. Saying what he did in a foreign country is a slap in the face to the Bush administration, not the American government. The office of the President is more important than any one person that serves in it, and I think most Americans can appreciate the difference between attacking the President and attacking the Presidency.

I also find the use of the word "provincial" rather ironic.

MARY McCARTHY: HEROINE

My only regret is that she's not been hauled up on charges of espionage and giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

I KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG

[[[ And as everyone knows, you can’t fight Mother, you simply get out of her way. ]]]

Hence the conclusion of the Hurricane Pam exercise and its corresponding impact upon the New Orleans emergency plan:

Evacuate.
