First off I findit laughable that Obama's love of country matches those of the men who landed at Tarawa or even the men one finds in a VFW ghall. I doubt his vision of America would match most people at a bowling alley although I gather most faculty lounges can accept it without trouble.
For those who argue that the military can be cut back I have no doubt that they are all graduates of our staff colleges and have spent long years serving the flag.
Unfortunately one has only to have a passing knowledge of history to realize what happened in 1940 when the world's strongest army was humbled in six weeks. Or how those ignorant, bakward Japanese who were so nearsighted ruled the sky for the first six months of the war although we were assured in the pre war period the Japanese couldn't design an original aircraft let alone a superior one. And so thousands of American sailors and airmen were sacrificed for those who thought military spending and research could be sacrificed.
In reading the comments above I remember only too well a conversation I had Thanksgiving 2000. Someone argued we could cut our defense budget because we were the only super power and who would dare attack us. We were to witness what some hateful people sitting in caves in Afghanistan could accomplish shortly. More Americans were to die at these people hands than at the hands of any other foreign enemy.
Today we see the saw Russian bombers probing our air defenses and PRC subs probing our naval defences while we are assured by those who would never serve, nor honor their betters, that a reduction in our defensive expenditures is nothing to worry about.
Do not worry that today there are over 35 nations with nuclear delivery systems comapred to six twenty years ago. Do not worry that nuclear and biological weapons are spreading.
Just click your heels three times andsprinkle the magic pixie dust and all these events will vanish. And indeed they will, for one day when we least expect it you will awake to a blinding flash and will no longer have to worry because your military wasn't well enough equipped, prepared, or trained to prevent it. But why worry these commenters bray, after all just look at France in 1940.

I spent ten years in Europe, how long have you lived there? If you think Americans don't know their history ask any European to relate the history of their Royal houses or the role of religion in their country. Most British young adults dio not know the role of Churchill in their nation's history. I doubt how many Brits could identify Ramilies, Blenheim, or Crecy.
I did enjoy your example of the French and defending their language. Little wonder France continues to decline into irrelevance rapidly while the USA examines, adopts and alters foreign influences each and every day.
The Europeans usually remark on the many flags they see flying in the USA. When you speak to them you find that the nations of Europe do not display their flags because their people do not feel the same attachment Americans do. Doubt it, ask any naturalized European.
As for the French, a nation more ignorant of their history has yet to be found. Its odd but the Eastern European states have a far better knowledge of their culture and history than does the West. Perhaps its because they realize what conquered nation go through.

If people want to see what happens when a Leftist version of patriotism triumphs visit Europe. There is no pride in their history, culture nor traditions. What is of vital importance is figuring out how to game the system to obtain more beer and fags. The highpoint of these people's lifes is being able to riot after some soccer match.
No wonder people are leaving Europe in numbers not seen in a hundred years.

Of course Leftists love the future. It doesn't exist. They show no love for the country that is reality because they are enamored of fantasy. True Americans love this country for its past which demonstrates the changes that have occurred to uphold the promise of the future. The Left pretends to love the country yet shows only scorn for it while always forgetting no other nation has changed peacefully as much as the USA or spread freedom and liberty to so many people.
Leftist patriotism. Yeah go to San Francisco or Amherst.

HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL IS OUR GOVERNMENT?
Let's recall the steroid hearings. Why were the dhimmies wasting time on this and the kind of light bulbs we should use as the enrgy crisis grew worse and worse. Why do they offer us as a solution Magic Pixie Dust instead of exploiting known technologies and resources and encouraging practical research for alternative sources or advanced technology.
I am heartily sick and scared of the dhimmies who still believe taxing corproations will make the average working guy better off or that taxing dividens is social justice.
Show me a state where Liberals reign and I'll show you high taxes, declining populations, and high crime.

Its sad but I think its self evident to the people of this country which candidate is a race hustler.
The media is to blame for much of this because it refuses to cover:
-cover the closest advisers are in a campaign and what they are
-where the money comes from
-what the candidates policies are-not the rhetoric
-what their record is

I stand corrected as to educational costs-you are of course correct. As to community services I doubt very much that communities differ significantly when they retain a monopoly on services. One only need examine the role of cable companies that have de facto monopolies thans to municipalities. Whenever competion is permited costs drop.
In Washing DC various areas of the city have had to stand for tainted water and have zero recourse. A private company would have its back against the wall but a government has neither to explain nor compensate the citizenry.
Does anyone believe public education delivers the same bang for a buck as private or religious education? In Chicago 80% of public school teachers send their children to private high schools.

I'd like to address the moonbat who cited government controlled water resources as an example of what the government runs correctly. Actually its the perfect example of what happens when the government runs anything. In My community the water board is appointed but has the power to issue bonds-anyone see the problem with that. It bars anyone from digging a well and bars competion. It buys water from a neighboring jurisdiction and marks it up and sells it to the peons. But get this there is one rate in the off season and about an 80% higher rate in the high usage periods of the year.
This rate goes up if you use over a cretain amount each month. But this is based on your off season usage, so if you winter in Florida and have zero usage guess what-you're screwed and pay extremely high rates. And do you think the kindly bureaucrats care?
Anyone who wishes the government to run anything only needs to examine the VA or our school systems. Who would end their kids to a public school if you could send them anywhere else (assuming you could use the same funds the government spends for your child's education). In my community its over 11,000 a year per child. What a joke.
Anyone who thinks the government runs anything on a businesslike or efficient manner has to be a RINO or dhimmierat.

I do not believe a man who believes an infant who survives an abortion should be denied medical care is in any position to lecture anyone about a father's responsibilities.
Especially not when he believes exposing his children to his spiritual mentor, Rev. Wright is the correct thing to do.
If you have no moral compass you shouldn't lecture others. Obama is a bad joke.
