DANCING ON THE GRAVES OF BLACK PEOPLE

Clarice: I've not really got a dog in the blame game fight ('cept to resent the Democrat knee-jerk attack of Bush, ignoring their own local and state leaders involved, and smearing of Republican efforts toward prompt congressional hearings) but Charles Krauthammer suggests some problems with FEMA as he criticized it's leader Michael Brown as:

...Late, slow and in way over his head. On Thursday, Sept. 2, he said on national television that he didn't even know there were people in the convention center, when anybody watching television could see them there, destitute and desperate. Maybe in his vast bureaucracy he can assign three 20-year-olds to watch cable news and give him updates every hour on what in hell is going on.

This was pretty embarrassing to say the least.

Rick: great job, my friend!

AP IMPLIES CRITICISM OF FEMA FOR TAKING TWO DAYS TO BRING PAPER SHUFFLERS TO LA

Joseph, you may have a wee point, but only because of the utter incompetence of the state and local authorities pre- or post-hurricane. However, Rick has a excellent point re AP's clearly playing Monday quarterback for a chance to bash the administration over something as ludicrous as, as... positioning bureaucrats on the ground, in the midst of a disaster, with no infrastructure and few resources for them to do their oh-so-useful bureaucratizing.

Rick, you wrote this:

For the Associated Press to release an article like this is flabbergasting. It reveals a breathtaking bias in reporting that should be pointed out and condemned by not only bloggers but anyone in the MSM who is concerned about the credibility of their industry.

Aah, but my friend, their industry has no credibility.

Indeed, that's why there are bloggers, conservative talk radio, the Media Research Center, and Fox News. (And RWNH!)

AWWWWWW! NO CARNIVAL THIS WEEK

Understandable, Rick, but... 8-(

Indeed, I flipped when I took a peek at your SiteMeter last night. Thought I was at Instapundit for a sec. ;-)

Then I realized: wait, you're WAY BETTER than Glenn! :D

THE FULMINATER

Good 4U, Susan!

Rick, would it be too trite to simply compliment you on this post? A homerun even after reading the first paragraph, and it gets better. You know this schmuck like Rush knows liberals. (And I bet you know every inch of your lovely naked body as well as Rush knows his, too.)

THE COMPACT OF CIVIL SOCIETIES

Rick, I'm starting to re-think my initial reaction to reading this post the other day. It.just.gets.worse.and.worse.

And yet, I still refuse to lose my belief in Humanity. What we're seeing out there with the lootings and rapes and murders and mayhem -- that's not Humanity. It is human sewage with legs.

Humanity now must fix this. First thing tomorrow, Congress better declare Martial Law. And then, Shoot To Kill should be enforced. The Natl. Guard reinforcements would certainly help.

Jay is the first person I've seen in this whole post and comment thread (including you, Rick - but please correct me if I'm wrong!) who has mentioned the power of charitable organizations. America is a loving and generious country; just look at the outpouring from us to the tsunami victims last December.

Rick, you say that we need "hope." I say that we need serious commitment from Americans to step up and give, as they've never given before.

Once the access is available to the city (and thousands of sq mi all the way to Alabama), getting food and water and a place for refugees to stay will go far toward curbing the uncivil violence. (And yes, looters should be SHOT ON SIGHT)

Here's what the blogosphere can do:

1) GO HERE to get a blog banner that links directly to the Am Red Cross. (no it's not my site)

2) Give, and be generous!

"DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE LOVE OF GOD GOES?"

PS: For docdave, I have this to share that I found over at basil's blog - Lunch today:
"My Little Prayer For Today". A great modern-day parable I'd not heard before. It made me re-think just how I'm explaining this all to my 3 and 6 year olds, just why it is that God makes hurricanes. Still doesn't change my final answer though: "I don't know."

Neat analysis, Rick. Re 9/11 vs. Civil War: I do think we're probably too close to 9/11 to tell what's to come of it culturally yet. (Remember well: Ollie Stone's move has yet to come out.)

But I also wonder whether 9/11 and the CW are really comparable this way, since they're such different events, touchstones as they were (and will be) for generations to come. And, they happened at such different times in our Nation's history.

I'd think that the Civil War would be more evocative of change and cultural upheaval (= output) because it was, much more than 9/11 will ever be, emblematic of a huge sociopolitical rift in our nation: neighbors fighting neighbors, brother fighting brother, to the death. While the leftist elites vs. the neocons is a grand fight, it's nothing in comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if the Civil War inspired more cultural and arts production than have both WWI and WWII combined. After all, there were two sides, and the two sides were US.

Though not to diminish 9/11 and the GWOT. After all, it's not just the USA, but Western Civilization, that's at stake this time...

SHEEHAN: I AM THE WALRUS

Rick, a kept man?!? I want some of that! :D ('cept for the cats, have two very neurotic ones already, peeing all over the house in fact, thankyouverymuch)

Santay, I love the idea. Get the two together, have 'em rope up those buses like some land-based analog of a contraption from Waterworld, and let 'em rip. Kevin Costner can even direct the documentary. Code Pink will provide security on the set.

Just wait until they get stuck in the I-95 traffic in Virginia with no air conditioning. They'll all get naked and dance atop the BashBushBus.
