JACK BAUER IN A POST BUSH WORLD

Looks like the New Jack is indeed a revival of the Old Jack... though perhaps a bit more given to waxing philosophical (even as he cracks heads). My kill count was only 1/2 for him since both he and Agent Walker shot that guy on the boat at the same time - a slow start but just give him time. I hope it will be more 'Must See' than last season.

My favorite Jackism came near the beginning in that senate hearing: "I'm sorry, Senator. I didn't hear a question." Showed that pontificating bat-brained senator (who reminded me of our VEEP-elect).

Can't wait to see Jack interrogate Evil Almeda on Monday night... or is he really Evil Almeda!?! Nothing is ever as it seems...

24 UNTIL 24 -- OPEN THREAD

Hey Rick, so glad that the close vote pushed you into the YES column for this season. Look forward to your summaries and commentaries as always. :D

My prediction for the season:

Due to a shift of the new administration's position on terrorists (so as to appease its fanatical leftist base), the White House and the news media will start referring to terrorists as "Jihad Kittens" in an effort to make them appear less evil. At the end of the season, Jack will save our butts and inflict over 200 kills/mamings, but he will immediately be crucified by the media for having killed kittens.

Bonus prediction: Chloe won't shoot anyone this season, but she'll eviscerate at least one bureaucrat with sarcasm.

ALL MY SONS

Ya know, Morris comes off with some great 'isms' as well. If Chloe's a bit out of dialogue these days, what about tracking "snarkism of the week" or just "ism"? Though we love Chloe, it might offer more of a chance for weekly updates.

Also, I am pretty sure that Graem said at the end of the episode "JACK forced my hand" not "They forced my hand." (They who?) If so, that puts a different spin on it - blame game and all - especially with all Graem's sickeningly ironic sarcasm about Jack's misplaced dedication to family.

Might the Bauers have come out a tad differently if they had, say, a family game night every week when growing up? Such damaged familial goods...

SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES

Question: How are the islamofascists going to arm the other 4 'Visitors' without a nukes expert? Are the terrorists going to trade with Prez Palmer for another, detained elsewhere? Indeed, wife and I reflected on how eager the US is (in 24-Space) to negotiate with terrorists. "We'll have it in writing within the hour" is heard way too often on this show.

Not crucial, but I believe you have the death count numbers swapped for Boston and the mall in Baltimore - in Balto there were more deaths, including many children. Living nearby, that stuck in my memory.

It's great to have you back doing this, Rick.

REPRIEVED!

Uh, that URP was supposed to be "asterisk URP asterisk", not boldface... whatevah.

Wes S., talk about previews: did anyone else see the OTHER preview, tonight, toward the end of House, in which we see Bierko (who hasn't been mentioned much here, OMG) with a **URP** GAS CANISTER?!? A huge surprise was utterly spoiled by this dastardly preview. Damn, I hate previews.

Or would it really be a surprise to think our Russian terrorist buddy was just running off to the Bahamas for a wee bit of RnR?

WHY I STILL LOVE THE POST AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Rick, I was stunned to read their editorial this am, it's so rare that they really knock one out of the park. As Jibtrim at Starboard!!about this editorial:

This is one of the times I wished the editorial was signed -- not for the reasons I normally wish they were.

I still can say though, after comparing the front pages of the WaPo and Wash Times every morning for over 5 months now, that there are plenty of biased, partisan shenanigans going on (OK OK, at both papers to some extent).
